A couple photos from around the Cogswell interchange construction in Halifax.
You can sort of see the public space taking shape here as the road infrastructure gets cleared out. Note the cheesy retro concrete archway that says "Granville Mall". I remember the era when municipal politicians were enthusiastic about putting up signs like that as a placemaking/beautification exercise; that moment seems to have passed.
Years ago there was an uproar when the buyer of that warehouse building with the white stripe painted over the ~100 year old stenciled "Morse's Teas" lettering. Apparently they wanted to rent out the space as advertising or something? But it's still just a white stripe. For a while around the 70's or so it was a large neon sign.

I thought this one was interesting too. The dead end is Cogswell so that will be opened up by the work. The modern facades on the right are pretty senseless; they replaced old facades of similar size of a similar architectural style to the buildings you still see there. That narrow brick building on the right is 1 survivor of a set of triplets. The brick one on the left is CIBC.
