Minneapolis since the last time

So I used to post Twin Cities photothreads here on a fairly regular basis. For a number of reasons I haven't done one for several years. Now I suddenly have a lot of free time, and all of my equipment and software issues have been sorted out, so I am going to try to get back in the habit of doing photography. I thought I would start by processing the photos that I have had sitting around for the last three and a half years.

Good stuff! I like the mid-rise infill. And while I'm definitely ready for mild spring weather here in the Midwest, I really like those snowy scenes you captured.

I'm in the same boat as far as photo threads. 3+ years of 'I'll get around to it at some point'.

I always liked your threads in that they always have much varied cross-sections of your city.

It's been like 25 years since I've been to MSP. It always looks like quite the city, but I've never had a reason to go back there.

Took me a moment to figure out where those Calhoun Park Terrace buildings were at. What's sad is I used to go past them on Lake or 31st St. all the time. I wish Minneapolis had more townhomes, especially the closer you get to downtown. I was looking at that apartment building across from Stella's Fish House, the one with the jutting glass spa pool over Lake St. Lots of people in it at that particular moment. Reminds me of when back in the day they'd pack a telephone booth or VW Bug. Still so disappointing to see that old Taco Bell site there is still undeveloped. 25 years. WTH. Prime real estate.

Ackerberg seemed to hold out perfect projects and had trouble actually getting them built. He wanted something transformational on that site and ended up building nothing. Now that he has sold Calhoun Square I wouldn't be surprised if the new owners developed that lot pretty quickly. It is the last big hole in Uptown's fabric and is probably the most prime location of any vacant lot in the city outside of downtown.

Fantastic photography. That has to be one of the most enjoyable photo threads I have seen in a long time. I really like the mood you've captured.

Some really beautiful and detailed images of a vibrant city, though it is kinda hard to look at them now without thinking about some other things, but I will try.
