^Will probably be topped off sometime in August. It'll be nice to walk around the surrounding area (including the hub) next summer when most construction is completed. Both projects have really transformated the neighbourhood.

Looks to only be 2 more floors and based on the floor numbers on the window they have completed the roof of floor 40.

Are they counting floor 4,14,24,34... on this tower? I've worked on a lot of towers downtown and they don't

These levels are included. City of Surrey (among other cities) have not been allowing developers to exclude levels anymore

Zoning approval would be the number of levels regardless of how they are numbered.

Superstition.

Quote:
The Chinese word for four (四, pinyin: sì, jyutping: sei3), sounds quite similar to the word for death (死, pinyin: sǐ, jyutping: sei2), in many varieties of Chinese. Similarly, the Sino-Japanese, Sino-Korean and Sino-Vietnamese words for four, shi (し, Japanese) and sa (사, Korean), sound similar or identical to death in each language (see Korean numerals, Japanese numerals, Vietnamese numerals). Tetraphobia is known to occur in Korea and Japan since the two words sound identical, but not at all in Vietnam because they carry different tones (in the case of the word for "four", whether it is the Sino-Vietnamese reading tứ or the more common non-Sino-Vietnamese reading tư, neither sounds like the word for "death" which is tử) and Vietnamese does not use Sino-Vietnamese numerals as often in the first place.

They used to be able to. I don't think they are anymore.

Unless it's Richmond, I don't think they've adopted the rule yet

I'm so glad that developers have stopped skipping the 13th, and every x4th floors. That was annoying.

That makes sense.
The thicker slab is a "transfer slab" to allow differing placement of support columns for the different penthouse floorplans
(ie columns do not all line up with the ones below).

Interesting. A lot of those assignments by the sellers are on CRA's radar too - including GST if assignments are sold for profit as a business, rather than for investment. But those prices are quite high compared to the towers around Central City Skytrain station, which suggests either the former (to profit) and the latter - investor capitulation due to Covid 19...
