The Chronicle Herald story states that it is 3 storeys but renderings and pictures show 4 storeys.

Hopefully someone on this forum will go and take some pictures and give a review of the new facility.

Will a family of 4 be willing to pay $40? It seems rather expensive.

I will probably go the weekend of the 18th. We buy an annual pass.

Hopefully it will meet and surpass people's expectations. It would be great if it came close to being on a level with the new Central Library, although that might be too much to expect.

that's nothing. you can't take a family of 4 to a movie for less then 40$ i don't think cost will be a big inhibitor.

Certainly for those with young families, it is a great way to keep kids busy on a winter weekend day. For my family, we don't tend to go as much in the summer, but probably every second weekend my son asks to go to DC, and having a place to go that is indoors, educational, and yet fun for kids is such a critical thing. We almost tend to alternate between one weekend being a physical activity (skating/swimming) using infrastructure like Halifax Forum or Centennial Pool, with infrastructure like DC and the Library on the alternates. So important when you have a young family to help keep sanity by not being trapped indoors with a squirrelly child on a wet winter day! And was said above, when you compare to the cost of a movie or even just going to McDonalds, it is money well spent!

Jeeze, I've never looked at the annual pass before. It's super reasonable! $125 for a family of four, or $200 if you want free weekend parking and a free caregiver (not sure what that means...)

So, I went on a brief tour yesterday, and can confirm there are 4 floors, 0 to 3. There is a TON of space compared to the old building. Finishing touches to new exhibits is still being done and still won't be 100% for opening day, but close enough.

We went yesterday, and it was outstanding. Lined up out the door when we got there, and still qeued out the door when we left. My son's comment when I asked him after what he thought was "I didn't like it. I LOVED it!" This morning he asked if we could go again today. Amazing place and a great resource for the community.

That is great to hear. I hope the staff can find a way to shorten the line-ups.

Did you have a chance to check out the immersion dome?

It is great to see that Halifax has another attraction for residents and tourists.

I'm actually there again as my son wanted to go back. Immersion dome was amazing. Very well done. It is even busier today. Lines are abnormally slow only because so many are getting membership. Great to see so many kids pumped about STEM. The innovation lab is really well done and was packed with kids.

Was there today as well. My little one stayed entertained for 6 hours, didn't want to leave for lunch. She Says she wants to go back next weekend.

The new Discovery Centre sounds like a winning attraction. Glad to hear that the kids enjoy it, and possibly they will become the scientists of the future.
