I’m also not fond of the stadium area though. It’s a waste of money and opportunity. Basically a way for suburban people to come into the city, park, use city infrastructure, and spend money at sporting monopolies and not at smaller businesses throughout the city. I think that model should be heavily reevaluated.
the average suburban family is not coming into town 2-3 hours before a game for dinner and drinks. This stuff is fantasy, the real world doesn't work like that. Many of these games are during the week, people are coming after they finish work and kids are home from school. Some people just want to go to the game and thats it. Thats all they have time and money for, period. Sports complex is well served by highways and septa, it works and has for a long time. The reality is there arent tons of people that want to live near stadiums, myself included.

On many topics she's spot on; on this one she's contorted herself so far from the urbanist point of view that she herself has taught us to appreciate that it's painful to watch herself try to make sense of her opinion.
If 8th and market could fit a stadium it would be a better location, especially since a huge % of fans comes from south jersey. When you think about the frequency and schedules on regional rail the notion that suburbanites will rely on RR to get to and from sixers games is a joke. So with that said proximity to jefferson station is almost irrelevant.
