If somebody knows something, please speak up. This is a massive tease. Hopefully not a vision.

A mega-tall will happen in time due, just a matter of waiting. Makes us wonder what the Park Lane hotel site will yield. One of the best locations in the city.

That would be a block east. The Park Central was reportedly sold not that long ago. I would assume anything built here would be a mix of hotel and condos.

The site is also in the theater bonus district, meaning they could transfer air rights from theaters. Could be another long term play.

The site also makes sense because it would be clear of Central Park Tower, offering views of the park.

This is the Park Central site.

I always wondered when we would hear something about redevelopment, given it has a big footprint and enormous air rights.

The site of that model was the first indication something was in the works, but I'm sure this isn't the only giant that was in planning in the area.

Looks a little similar to this which is a concept for vacant land on 265 West 45th Street (rendering courtesy RB Systems). Its not where Park Central is located, but the design may give us ideas to how it would look among the skyline. Although this looks to be way taller than CPT (Park Central), but food for thought.

Pebblebrook sells two hotels to Highgate and LeFrak

Following the contentious bidding war with investment giant the Blackstone Group for control of LaSalle Hotel Properties, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust sold two of its New York hotels to Highgate Hotels and the LeFrak Organization as it trims its portfolio.

While the company did not identify the buyers, sources told The Real Deal that Highgate Hotels bought the Park Central New York at Seventh Avenue and West 55th Streets.

The Park Central purchase marks the return to the property for Highgate, which sold the 934-room hotel that it had owned in partnership with Goldman Sachs to LaSalle for $396.2 million in late 2011.

Highgate, headed by brothers Mahmood Khimji and Mehdi Khimji, still maintains its New York offices at the hotel and managed both the Park Central and WestHouse properties for LaSalle.

Highgate is acquiring New York's Park Central Hotel, with a little assistance from Blackstone Group via $250 million in financing.

Blackstone Mortgage Trust, a subsidiary of Blackstone Group, supplied three loans to Highgate totaling $247.57 million to acquire the hotel, which is located at 870 7th Ave. in New York City. The hotel was listed for $366.17 million.

One Vanderbilt got a height extension and I'm surprised that no one is talking about it. Total roof height is now 1451 feet!
