Suburban

The Elian Development complete. Not too bad for being a subruban development.

I'd like to see more of that Eilan project. And several of those buildings are surely highrises.

Very nice threads

Yes, The Elian is an especially nice addition to the Northwest side. I've visited it during several stages of its development. Reminds me of my travels to various parts of Europa, especially Italy. Just like some of the architecture downtown and the Riverwalk itself, it has such a nice Meditteranean feel.

Skyonic breaks ground on new carbon-capture plant in San Antonio

Quote:
James Aldridge
Sept. 30. 2013

Skyonic Corp. is set to begin construction this week on the nation’s first commercial-scale carbon capture and mineralization plant in San Antonio.

The carbon-capture facility, known as the Capitol SkyMine plant, is being built at Capitol Aggregates’ cement factory in Northeast San Antonio.

Once this facility is completed and operational in 2014, it should capture 300,000 tons of CO2 annually from the cement factory and convert it into products that will be sold. The byproduct of this carbon-capture process is commercial-grade sodium bicarbonate, HCI and bleach.

The Capitol SkyMine plant will employ 35 people. The plant should create more than 200 jobs throughout the construction and on-going operations phases.

Austin-based Skyonic hopes to turn a profit within three years.

San Antonio seems to do an excellent job in integrating their parks into the cityscape. Very impressive.

Confluence Park is a small pocket park under construction which is a part of the Mission Reach and the San Antonio Riverwalk extension linking the four missions. The project was recently completed but it will take quite some time for the the wildlife and ecosystem to fully be restored. Restoration of the ecosytem is one of the main goals of this project.

The thing I see in the site plan and rendering is that it appears one of the mobile home owners isn't selling. lol

It looks more like an RV but could be someone's home at a TP.

A small three-story office building is bring proposed on state land at 402 Dwyer Ave. According to the plans, the structure would be 21,000 square feet. It’s retro-looking, like something out of “Mad Men.” Not sure exactly who will office out of there. I still have reporting to do. View the agenda item.

San Antonio is the Philadelphia of Texas.

Historic city, with good urban bones, increasing density, and getting some soulful stuff while it infills and continues to grow.

Just needs some taller buildings to make a symmetrical skyline but for San Antonio, it's what's happening on ground level that's more important.

Only thing remains is public transit.
