^ You can ask for money, but in almost all cases for sites like that they will balk, and cheap out on you and just use someone else's photo from flickr. Not worth it anyway IMO, as you can see from their 'agreement' basically, you will be giving them rights to use your photo for free for pretty much anything they want for all time.

I'd tell 'em to pound sand.

I would charge them if they want to plaster it everywhere. Just probe them for more details and see if you can get someone to call you so you get real details and not just legal notice info.

Chances are, they are just using flickr to find free photos, so they will say no if you ask for money. You have little interest in letting people use your photos for free. But a lot of people give photos away for free because they're excited that somebody wants to use their pics.

^ Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I decided to go ahead and let them use it for free since it's just a random street shot that I can easily redo anytime I want...

New camera?

i've had my D90 three years now and it's served me well. however, i feel like it's time for something new which can handle night and low light better. also, my D90 has some odd technical quirks of locking into settings unless i release the lens which makes me think i'm doomed to shell out money for Nikon to tweak it.

so, should i get a new camera and if so, what? D7000? i'd rather not have to buy a new lens set (35mm, 12-18mm, 18-105mm VR and 70-300mm VR).

The D7000 looks awesome, but you might want to wait a bit because there is speculation Nikon may be releasing an updated version (D7100) this fall.

D7000 is the way to go for you LsyD. Good motor and you can hit iso 3200 with almost no noise. It starts getting noisy after that but still usable.

I'm curious. Do any of you post your pics on other forums or know of any other good forums for photography?

I sometimes post my photos on SSC, but SSP is my main posting photos forum. For just general photo talk, Fred Miranda is the place to go, IMO.

I go to the following:

http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/
http://www.pixtus.com/forum/

I was going to make an account on Fred miranda but you have to have a email address from a website and not a public email like gmail or yahoo. But lots of peeps that post on thephotoforum post on FM too. Good people but they will rip your photo apart if you ask for a critique. Can be good and bad sometimes but i tend to get solid advice on there.

I had this picture of mines:

Featured on this website:

It's nothing really special, but I thought it was cool enough to share ...

That's pretty cool, how did they find your shot? Did they pay?

Two of my new shots featured on the Houston Press Blog

On a side note- This guy almost got in a fight with someone because they spilled water on his girl's ankle then apologized for it.

Lol, either they typed in all of the words I have tagged and found it on the 10th page (at least that's where it was when I tried to search for it), or they were really determined to find a picture from that angle and did some vigorous looking.

I decided to go ahead and add it to a couple groups this morning.

I didn't get paid for it because I really don't care that much about it. It's not like its great photo taken from an exclusive location or showcasing something timeless...

^Travel and Leisure contacted me to use one of my shots, but I declined because they're not willing to pay for usage rights. It's not worth giving your work away for free when someone else is going to profit from it. Imagine if I hired you to work for me, but said: "Hey, I hope it's okay if I don't pay you." You'd tell me to shove it.

I only let Houston Press use my stuff for free. They dont really make much to begin with and they are cool.

I can already tell that it's a great camera. The video function is amazing. Phenomenal quality.

^ Really? I must have posted that I was getting it soon. I can't remember.

Anyway, I've been messing with the video function, and even though I have no idea what I'm doing, I'll post a video.

Shanghai from my window. Not as clear as I had hoped unfortunately. I need to practice and invest in some decent editing software. Windows Movie Maker is a joke. The video was shot at 2500 ISO.

Watch in 1080p
