This plaza has to be complete before the building can open, so they're getting it ready in a hurry...

New York will always be a very open city, with a lot coming and going. The city can't exists in a constant state of fear and panic. If so, you wouldn't see towers like 1 Vanderbilt rising in the first place.

I'm not afraid....its just sadly if something happens/attempted like that to Hudson Yards I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I don't know how or why you think something like that is going to happen at the Hudson Yards. It's just irrational fear. That complex is structurally sound anyway.
I don't see anybody fearmongering about the glass towers on Park Avenue that stand above the rails, and probably are less structurally protected. PATH trains constantly run beneath the Freedom Tower.

Haha, yeah I would hazard a guess the final swing of the crane will be one of plonking the mast back on.

That’s the Brooklyn Bridge.

Any idea what are those black "rails" that they seem to have added to the upper part of the crown? You see them fairly prominently in NYguy's posts from June 26th on the left, but I'm not sure if it's part of construction or what they're supposed to be

It's part of the observatory experience, where you will dress up as Kong, then climb up and swat away toy planes while carrying a barbie.
If it's not that, then I'm not sure, but it's not permanent.

At first I thought they were temporary, but looking back at some pics there's actually rectangles punched into the beams for these rails. Perhaps they actually are a part of the observatory experience, like a drop tower. But it probably stays up for a bit so you have time for pictures

Why don't you post any pictures then?

More to the point why don't others here who live in NYC post any either instead of ones from Instagram etc? Just be honest about your location.
