Honestly, no it’s not. For 22 miles, the lack of seating and areas to congregate around it are rough. A single rock to sit on in the middle of how many steel columns just south of PCM. Ridiculous. Literally no seats at the Glenwood Ave entrance nor all the way up until Monroe Drive.

The BeltLine uses private development as a crutch to provide things that should have been incorporated from the getgo.

Yeah, i agree completely. And after spending a long weekend in Montreal, i can safely say the Beltline doesn't have half as many parklets and plazas as it should.

Atlanta leadership's complete reliance on private capital to improve sidewalks, bury power lines, build green space, and even building out the grid is frustrating. I'm glad someones doing it, but i would like to see more capital investment and follow through from our government.

Campanile Transformation

It has now been a year since the last major announcement of the immanent transformation of the Campanile by Dewberry. How dead is this project? Can we at least put a shroud around the building?

Here is a pic I took last week. They have finally removed almost all of the facade and windows. At least now it is starting to look like a new construction instead of a falling down mess. Hopefully we will see occupancy by 2045 or so.

PCM is turning into a fairly dense subdistrict. Portman's development will make things even better.

715 Ponce may go up around the same time, too. Just wish New City was also adding residential at their Ponce site.

If anyone hasn’t visited in a while, take the 2, 102, or 899 bus routes from North Ave station. They go nearly every 10 minutes, so fairly reliable.

Agreed. The service is great now. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes.

Noticed that Thursday. At least all the glass is removed. Move to completion date to 2047.

If anyone could manage to pull it off, they could go in a completely different direction: use the bare concrete as a base for, sort of like a permanent new year's float. Just cover the whole outside in some kind of wire grid or plant media, and keep all kinds of native plants, seasonal ornamental plants and lighting all over the building. It could be like a centerpiece for midtown.
