I kinda disagree with that. Though Amazon would have been game changing it wouldn't have pushed Philadelphia to the top cities for employment. We do however need more companies to locate here into the city. Doesn't have to be Center City or UC either. Just in the city.

It's absolutely not a "cope" with headlines like this, too: https://commercialobserver.com/2024/...office-leases/

The "Big Tech" boom of the 2010s are clearly over, and this is before even more positions are phased out with AI.

The takeaway from the Amazon "sweepstakes" is that maybe next time every city and its mother shouldn't be so gullible about lofty promises. Focusing on retaining homegrown startups should always take MUCH more priority than sketchy relocations/tax break incentives.

I'd rather be focusing on organically building a red-hot biotech scene like Philly currently is. It's much more sustainable and consistent.
