Cincinnati - From beer halls to the Hall of Justice

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Cincinnati this past weekend and had an amazing time. It has been on my list of places to see for years mostly due in part to the threads I've seen on this website. Here are some photos from our trip. I hope you enjoy!

Thanks Steely! I thought the chili was pretty good. It's quite different from what I am used to though.

Wewt.

Irrelevant anecdote: At the Cracker Barrel near my house that I eat at now and again, there hangs on the wall an antique marriage certificate from the 1800's. I'd need to go and look at it again to get the particulars, but my Google-fu allowed me to track down this couple and see how the house where they lived in Cincinnati over a century ago is doing these days.

Spoiler alert: So-so. It's still standing, but doesn't seem to be in a great part of town.

yeah, cincy chili is pretty damn different from anything else called "chili" that i've ever had.

for that reason, it's quite a polarizing food. i love the stuff (despite its wacky name), but i've heard others express outright hatred for it.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

Evo5Boise - I do as well. It's a really great tribute to the Kenner Toy Company. Here's another shot I took of it from the day before.

Hey, the Care Bear would actually be my favorite character.

They're called Bisounours here. Ha, nothing sexist, but females happened to find them cute when I was a child. Nothing surprising, huh...
They even brought about some popular saying over here. Being called a Bisounours (again, a Care Bear like that one on the mural) means you're a naive idealist, and it's actually cool, in my opinion at least.

I'll confess that I never watched the show, though. It felt boring to me as a kid.
I liked violent Japanese animated shows much better, and now that I watch them again as a grown-up, I find them completely stupid. I can't even watch for over 3 minutes cause they're so boring.
Go figure.

great city! even though st. louis is technically older, cincy really is the elder matriarch of the midwest and a wonderful city.

Ha! We were there too last weekend. It looks like we visited many of the same places. You did an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the place. When were you at Findley Market? It looks much more quiet than when we were there Saturday around noon.
