Except skyscrapers aren't as densely packed in Shanghai and you won't see too buildings like that old Bank of Nova Scotia block.

I might be dreaming, but it looks to me like they are flattening out the bottom at the Brookfield Place site. It doesn't look like it's more than 15 meters down though, the excavation was supposed to be 22 meters.

OK, I just walked by the One Bloor project and they have installed a few of the glass panels. The glass panels are smoked out white glass. Maybe the best cladding I've ever seen on a Toronto project for this boom. This tower will be by far, and a long shot the greatest tower of the boom and the mark for all else that follow. Its gonna blow your mind with awesome!

Flattening out doesn't necessarily mean that excavation is finished. Sometimes they flatten the ground so that the machine that installs the tiebacks can move around.

Aura is not pure crap. Jeeze, I don't mind it at all. I agree One Bloor will be better quality, but it's not like Aura is a piece of junk. It's just not up to some people's expectations. Mediocrity is not accepted by many skyscraper geeks.

OK well maybe you're right.

But One Bloor is at least a tower Toronto doesn't have to be ashamed of, at least in regards to taking flack for boring design, poor workmanship or dreaded blue glass.

Of the large TO projects currently under construction:

Trump - crap (though nice interior)

Aura - ok (nice height and some angles good, some bad)

Ice - great

One Bloor - could turn out the best out of the above

And of the three coming up, time will tell, but I'm optimistic overall with it probably ending up as (from best to worst): Massey 88 Scott, Ten York and Harbour Plaza

Agree. The spandrel on AURA is a big disappointment, but the rest of the exterior looks good imo. Trump is a lot better than people make it out to be as well. It's better than 90% of the residential we have in this city. It happens to sit next to the best buildings in the whole city so it's being compared to our 'gold standard': TD, Scotia, etc. Put Trump anywhere else, and people wouldn't be nearly as negative. The Trump name certainly doesn't do it any favours either.

Only thing wrong with Trump is the top exterior. The rest of the building is nice.
