This is probably the first of the new supertalls to be lit up by the end of the month! I think they announced something around the 18th....? But we'll see what September holds with this and other nearby supertalls being wrapped up!

Now we just need some flying cars and it'll be the future shown in movies!

Yes, I've been waiting on the lighting. I guess they will tie it all in together.

Slightly off-topic; but as much as 1V truly complements ESB more prefectly than I could possibly imagine, that particular Queens view somehow ruins the joy with Sutton now in the way...

big fire today in the Bronx at a wood pallet stockpile. The unfortunate position of this earthcam made it look like 1 Vanderbilt was on fire.

My heart skipped a beat seeing that. I also just realized that we’re a couple of days away from 9/11.

So many fires in the news, with record temperatures in numerous states.

Thinking back to a few years ago when the modern skyscraper race first began to now, it really does feel like we're in what my younger self would've seen as "the future"! How far we've come when ESB was the only supertall around since 2001! Only days away from 1Vand being lit up, hopefully!

And, as we approach the anniversary of 9/11, I don't think there was anyone who would have predicted after that so many supertalls rising around the world, and particularly in New York. No matter how bleak things look, just stick around. Change always happens.

crown's lit. Not sure if luminosity is 100%. Seems a bit dim but it is early. I think the idea is more of a lantern affect than bright floodlights like they have at the ESB, so this might be normal.

Hey Hudson! Nice to see you on SSP too. But I thought you said you actually preferred the new SSC to the old version?

I've been a member of both for almost ten years. Long time lurker even before that. Most of us probably go back and forth, though far less than how it used to be. Online forums in general have lost traffic thanks to the rise of social media. But I digress...

Everything's gone dark now. I think we'll have to wait a little longer, probably until next week for a full reveal. It's just as well. Let all eyes be on Downtown tonight.

Mathias said the ribbon-cutting is likely to be held on Sept. 14 or 15, by which time SL Green’s newly created public plaza between the tower and the terminal “will be fully operational,” along with $200 million in improved transit and pedestrian amenities which the developer agreed to provide.
