Trying to get the appeal in Philly's skyline? Well, to each its own.

I think the better question is: how can you not understand the appeal in Philadelphia's skyline?

Houston has some of the most BORING buildings ever. Not a fan of Dallas' either. I'd definitely put SF, Seattle, and Philadelphia over those two.

U.S.
1 - NY
2 - Chicago
3 - SF
4 - Philadelphia
5 - Seattle
6 - Miami
7 - LA
8 - Atlanta (not really a fan of how sparse it is, but if the gaps are filled in the next 50 years it could be spectacular)
9 - Houston
10 - Minneapolis

I didn't put a great deal of thought into this, but this is my tentative order.

Yeah, totally... I don't really get the appeal of Philly's skyline either... height, density, breadth, blend of old and new, diversity of classic and modern styles, different directional views offering highly-varied visual experience and features of the skyline ... lost on me too...

Because I've only posted six of these lists on here before, and I think I need to post seven:

Top 10 USA skylines (USA skylines are all that matter... USA is all that matters... in fact, my opinion of USA skylines is all that matters):

1 - Pittsburgh
2 - Philadelphia
3 - Erie
4 - Harrisburg
5 - Reading
6 - Wilkes-Barre
7 - Scranton
8 - Lancaster
9 - Washington
10 - Allentown

US only:

Chicago
New York (best looking at night)
Seattle
Pittsburgh
Houston (best when viewed facing west)

Rest of the world:

Hong Kong
Moscow City
La Defense, Paris
Pudong, Shanghai
City of London

Dubai has some amazing buildings but they're all lined up along one street. Looks like someone was bored on Sim City and just plopped down a bunch of towers in a straight line. Same with Philly. Love the buildings but most lined up along Market St.

How the skyline looks and feels as you are interacting with it is more important to me than the heights of all the buildings. Therefore here is my list from cities I have visited:

North America
1. Chicago
2. San Francisco
3. New York
4. Philadelphia
5. Seattle
6. Vancouver
7. San Diego
8. Los Angeles
9. Portland
10. St. Louis

The world outside North America.

1. Sydney
2. Hong Kong
3. Melbourne
4. Kuala Lampur
5. Bangkok
6. Barcelona
7. Malmo
8. Shanghai
9. Paris
10. Dubai

Dallas, Texas. I think the only American skyline that can "change theme" with LED lights. Red, white and blue for Independence day, Red for Valentine's day, Orange and jack-o-lanterns for Halloween, pink for the annual Mary Kay convention, etc. Hopefully soon Amazon Orange for a big announcement!

Best Skylines in the world:
NYC

Hong Kong

Shanghai

Shenzhen

Hmm, it gets a little harder from here on.
Chicago, Dubai, Guangzhou and maybe Tokyo definitely deserve a spot but it's hard to rank them. I'd love to put Taipei but frankly it's just Taipei 101 that even gives it consideration. Though I know they're currently building several large ones nearby and that could give them a big boost.
Then after that maybe Moscow, Kuala Lumper, Chongqing, and Seoul. And it just gets harder and harder after that.
