There should be a bike and walking trail through there, attached to 4 lanes of roadway. As well as at the east end of Windermere. But that for sure has well heeled opposition.

Lots of dump trucks bringing in fill for the east ramp to the bridge near Adelaide.

The on ramps for both bridges have now been graded. Imagine the plan is to use asphalt to pave the path and to landscape the slopes with topsoil and sod and bushes to prevent erosion. Suspect they still plan to paint the bridge steel as well as it is definitely rust coloured now. Not sure on the progress of the path between the bridges on the north side of the river. Hopefully it has been graded and prepped for asphalt paving too. If they pick up the pace there is no reason this shouldn't be open by Sept.

4 lane roadway with bike lanes would be awesome. And then the same at the other end of Windermere at Adelaide through to Kilally. With associated road widenings in between.

Some progress on the east bridge with steel fencing installed on the abutments and concrete curbing on the ramp. Could see asphalt paving soon for access ramps.

Hopefully this council starts revisiting the Medway Valley path network again. It is the next missing piece of the multi-use path network the city needs to complete.

Path has crushed stone and just waiting on paving now. Topsoil and landscaping is nearly complete.

Still no paving done. No work on site for some reason. Paving contractor must be busy elsewhere for this to be left undone.

please build a pedestrian link between Gainsborough and Windermere areas. There is no way to cross Medway creek in that area, despite the obvious need.

And why are all the multi-field soccer pitches on the Eastern side of London, despite all the growth on the Western side? Every time my son plays soccer, we have to drive EoA.

Simple geology as there is flat flood plain that can't be built upon beside the north and south branches of the Thames River. The main branch from the forks westward has high banks with steep slopes. The flat flood plain is ideal for recreational sports fields. The lands bordering the main branch of the river were snapped up by developers long ago with little thought by the city to build a large park with sports fields. The biggest exception was the city allowing the development of housing east and west of Highbury Ave on the north branch. Those homes are built on flood plain and it's just a matter of time before we see a 100 year flood.

I also think the reason they have allowed development so close to the north branch is because of the Fanshawe Dam.

Regarding soccer, it's funny. We live a 5 minute walk from the Byron sportsplex, and a 3 minute drive to southwest optimist, and when my daughter played, we had to take her up to Hyde Park to a couple fields up there. The west end doesn't have multi-field complexes because developers only want to put the bare minimum into greenspace when they see how much money they can get for homes. The east side parks have been around for decades, back when land was cheap and even building lots were large. You also had large industries with sports fields as part of their property, such as 3M and Firestone (Accuride now). The west end is still underserved by decent quality arenas as well, even with the new Bostwick complex open.
