How about this impressive duo; Collegetown at the forefront, and downtown Ithaca down the hill behind the bright reflection spot:

I know not skyline related, but neat maps.

Maybe if I had a weather balloon, some oxygen tanks, I would fly up and try to take a 360 gigapixel panorama (clear day) of PA/NJ/NY. Would be cool to see Philly and NYC and frikin DC in the same panorama!

Jersey City, Lower Manhattan, Downtown Brooklyn, Midtown, and Long Island City.

Slightly altered this picture just to get the zoom and focus panorama style. See credit for original.

As a significant and distinct entity? Not really.

I mean, Evanston and Oak Park both have some high rises, but nothing in either place rises above 300'. They're both pretty damn small pototoes in the grand scheme of things.

That said, chicago itself has high-rises lining the lakefront from Edgewater down to to South Shore (with significant gaps, of course). That's a distance of about 17 miles.

here's edgewater's skyline, ~8 miles north of the loop:

here's hyde park's skyline, ~6 miles south of the loop:

Here's Evanston's skyline, ~12 miles north of the loop:

Thanks for posting that! I thought there might be a collection near O'Hare!

Having read a bio of old man Daley, he made absolutely sure no company relocated out of the Loop. When Sears threatened to leave the Loop, he sat down with the CEO and asked: What can I do to keep you in the Loop? CEO: I need 2 contingent blocks in downtown Chicago, and the road closed off between the 2 blocks. Daley: You got it!
And up went the Sears Tower!

would be nice to get some updated shots.. I believe both Evanston and HP have had several towers go up (I know HP has for sure).

yeah, there are a fair number of office buildings and hotels out by ORD in rosemont, but given the proximity to the airport's runway approach paths, i don't think any of them reach over 10 floors high, not really much of a "skyline" to speak of.

and most of it is terrible post-war planning garbage -- large surface lots, giant parking garages, 6 lane streets, an obnoxiously humongous expressway interchange smack dab in the middle of it, and other pedestrian hostile infrastructure (ie. the built environment is not at all cohesive as one finds with a traditional skyline).

Here's one of NYC.

From Left to right: Jersey City, Lower Manhattan, DoBro (Brooklyn), Midtown (West/East), UES, Long Island City (Queens). A bit blurry, but in a few years, Greenpoint and everything rising along with water and proximity to the water will be be a skyline in itself. Hopefully bridging the gap between LIC/Greenpoint. If this was higher resting position and further back East, and from a higher elevating perspective, with wide pan in mind, we probally could of seen Newark.
