I don't think earthquakes under 3 are worth pointing out . . .

There was a 3.2 earthquake only 9 km away from Ft St. John BC the other day, and apparently it was felt by many (due to shallow depth and close proximity) and even heard by some.

I have felt earthquakes before (biggest was the 6.1 in 2001 centred south of the border) but have never heard them. We had a skylight in our school shatter and a couple walls in the library crack due to that quake (just surface).

most of the people i know there said they really felt it, couches moved, shelves shook, one guy thought a truck hit his house

quite a lot for such a minor quake

but they have been having a lot of small ones there due to the oil industry

I'm sure there are plenty like me here on the West Coast having a chuckle at your "earthquake".

We're here, whistling in dark, waiting for the "big one", the megathrust monster on the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Historically, they take place every 300-600 years, and can be up to 9.0 in magnitude. The last one took place in 1700, so we're now "in the window" for the next one. When it hits, there will be several coastal communities wiped off the face of the earth, and it will cause huge damage in the cities, depending where along the CSZ it takes place.

The last significant one around here was the 2001 Nisqually 6.8, which, even though the epicentre was 225km away, we certainly felt up here.

Canada's strongest earthquake in 60 years strikes, yet barely a whisper on here, hehe.

Tsunami warnings are all over now, which were issued as far away as Hawaii.

Ya really. A 7.7 magnitude earthquake is considered massive around the world but because it wasnt in quebec or southern ontario this thread is a ghost town haha. Sparse effected population is the only valid excuse.

A quake in the middle of nowhere versus a quake felt by millions of people. Gee I wonder why it got more attention.

If an earthquake strikes the middle of nowhere...

... does it make a sound?

Ya but tsunami warning sirens were going off as far away as Hawaii. There would have been tens of thousands affected.
