I don't see Worthington/Convexity on that list.

Hyatt-Regency Hotel

Am I the only person on this forum who thinks the new Hyatt-Regency Hotel is the coolest new building in downtown Salt Lake?

I love the way it is tall and narrow with the beautiful curved glass going around the building.

It is such a nice change from all the boxy boring buildings that have been built downtown in the last several years!!!

Has anyone heard how the Astra Tower court case went? Hopefully, they prevailed so they can get started.

I'm with ya there. I said the same thing a couple months ago, but that was based only on the rendering. Seeing it in person is no disappointment.

I haven't heard anything yet but the webcam shows that there is activity at the Astra site today.

In other news, it looks like Dakota Pacific just submitted for a commercial building permit to remodel the Felt Electric Building at 165 S. Regent Street. This is directly adjacent to the future tower site at 200 S. & Regent St which is also being developed (hopefully) by Dakota Pacific.

EDIT: new info from Reddit on Astra:

Apparently there is a buried concrete slab that supports the pawn shop, and so construction was delayed for that reason.

Kensington's most recent filing indicated that they weren't going to further appeal the Court of Appeals decision to the Utah Supreme Court and want to set a trial date. I've gotten the impression that the parties are mostly done with discovery and are close to wrapping up the case. It looks like the next step is to set a trial date.

A trial date being set doesn't remotely mean that a trial will necessarily happen - the parties can settle at any point up to and during the trial. As an interested amateur who is decidedly NOT an expert, I would guess that a settlement is likely, though the timing may depend on how big an issue this concrete slab is.

"Salt Lake isn't this, it isn't that, or doesn't look like this city or doesn't look like that city..."

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Babies!

You'd think this was the topic on every Salt Lake thread.

Looks like construction on the sixth south Trax station has started. All the grass has been pulled up.

This is probably the most appropriate place for sharing those kinds of opinions on development lmao... def more relevant to this thread than needlessly bitching and trying to police what we discuss

Nice view looking south on Main Street toward 6th+Main, 650 Main, SevenO2, the Sears Block, and the new TRAX station right now:

Sundial will cover almost the entire left side of this image when it's built.

Is the get together still on for 5:30 tomorrow at the City Creek Fountain? I am fairly new to this blog, but would love to attend.

Is food a part of it, or are we just walking the streets like the street walking nerds that walk streets?

I was thinking we would meet up, walk around downtown and see a few sites, and then grab dinner/drinks somewhere.

We can really do whatever we want to. I just thought I'd throw out a time and place upfront to make it happen.

My personal top 30 future potential D-1 Zone tower sites in downtown Salt Lake City

Some are pretty obvious, while others may prove to be relatively controversial (such as #16 or #17). Large locations like #1 or #27 could even be home to multiple towers if built to max density. #24 has been selected for a two floor Utah State Liquor store and around a 5 floor parking garage attached, but I think that would be a huge waste of a D-1 zone property.
