The Hamilton Downtown Multi-Residential Property Investment Program (HDMRPIP) application for the redevelopment of 137-149 Main Street West was submitted by Jackson Hospitality Inc. (Azim Kassam), the registered owner of the property. The property is presently a vacant commercial lot. The applicant proposes to develop a 73 unit, seven (7) storey apartment building.
Awesome! Funny how we were talking about this lot the other day and now the official proposal comes out.
Sorry, but that is supremely ugly. Not all development is good. I'd rather see it be a parking lot until someone comes in and builds something aesthetically superior and with more height. Enough buildings done on IKEA's kitchen-planner already.

It's just an elevation, not the official design. I am saying that it is awesome that the owner of the site is already proposing something for the site and now it will be great to watch and see what the final design eventually becomes.

According to the article, construction is about to begin with a planned completion by September. That's a very aggressive (and somewhat unrealistic) schedule!

It looks like our opinions are seen as expert! But really that rendering is bad in every way. Hopefully, although I don't care for the surprise, he is right and it will come out tolerable. Luckily for him he has given us all low expectations.

It looks like it's going to look terrible. It should not be given the go-ahead based on the rendering we saw. We might be surprised, but that's not how it should work.
I'm assuming we'll get a better rendering at some point...if not, I'm with PBRSTREETGANG on this one when he says that we can live with the parking lot until someone comes up with a design that will add value to the area.
