Garden City approved the boardwalk hotel/retail proposal. will be the tallest structure in town.

also, I drove down Myrtle late last week, and it looks like construction is continuing on the various apartment and condo projects all along Myrtle.

Cottonwood!! Finally movement on this.

These North End condos were approved in 2017. They still haven’t been built.

Quote:
In 2017, the Boise City Council approved a four-story, 31-unit condo building at the intersection of 8th and Fort streets, then the site of Baird’s Dry Cleaner’s in Boise’s North End.
Two and a half years later, the old Baird’s has been demolished, but the condos have yet to be built.
They will be soon, said Tim Gardner, one of the developers on the project, called The Metropolitan.
“We wanted to break ground this coming month,” Gardner said.

if I didn't know any better and you showed me that photo, I'd guess it was from southern Spain, or maybe somewhere in Mexico.

according to Boisedev, this project may be redesigned and consolidated from two buildings into one, taller 15-story tower:

I like the two-tower design and the big footprint, but I am more interested in seeing one taller tower. I wonder if it will have near the same footprint?

Maybe I'm the only one who likes the bridge over Broad St. I'd hate to see that "value-engineered" out of the design. Otherwise, taller would be nice, or build such that additional floors can be added later.

After cycling around our fair city the past few days, I saw that the old tiny building which was a Wells Fargo branch at 5th and Bannock is gone and there is a hole and fencing in preparation for this:

Of course I took photos and will post them soon.

11th & Idaho

5th & Bannock

Walnut Street

Park Boulevard @ The Greenbelt

Crane Spotting

Downtown was quiet early Saturday afternoon and would normally be packed with pedestrians.
Covid sucks.

The photo in front of the Fish and Game building looks like a Subaru advertisement, but as we all know Subaru's are as plentiful in Boise as squirrels are
and I drive one.

11th and Idaho is really coming along nicely. it's noticeable driving into town from the connector, though I think once the facade is done it will blend in more.

I saw some activity on the Vanguard, as well. looks like it might start rising above ground soon.

Has anyone in the know heard if the apartment buildings going in at 6th and Grove are still moving forward? It seems like they had secured financing before the pandemic.

That block will really change with the addition of those buildings and the nearby Vanguard.

Looks like d*** near all of them lol. Seriously, this is big news, and I'm loving how much visual weight the projects adds east of Capitol. Thanks for sharing, Don, and for the all the research you put into your local reporting.

And with that, this one-time-Boisean-now-Vancouverite is going back into hiding...
