Boise in Autumn ~ a Tribute to The Trees

I love this time of year in Boise, the City of Trees. This year the season was a grand and beautiful show and seemed to take its time. My photos range from the first day of Autumn up to a week ago. Please enjoy.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Excellent set of pictures, Sawtooth! Thanks for sharing.

I´ve enjoyed a lot watching those beautiful trees and Fall colours in Boise. I´d like to visit Boise and experience such beauty. The City of Trees is really pretty, as we can see. By the way, this is my favourite season of the year too.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Awesome job, Sawtooth, as always. You manage to capture not only the natural beauty of our city, but also its heart and soul. Fall is such a great time of year, thank you for taking the time to post these!

You do a great job of capturing this city. I swear, Boise looks like the love-child of Portland Ashland with only the best of both. Your threads have convinced me I have to make the drive sometime.

Thank you BoiseAirport. Maybe I will run in to you sometime in the future while we are both out and about taking photos.

Thanks for the compliment, ThatDarnSacramentan.

I have often heard from people who have lived in both Portland and Boise that Boise has a Portlandish vibe to it and moreso as this city continues to grow and become more diverse. Both cities are big on their natural surroundings, rivers, parks, coffee, wine and food and bikes.

Once more, seemingly very enjoyable. This is a city I had never heard of before coming to SSP, due to its current moderate size of course. A simply lovely region.

That banner feels kind of familiar however...

Danny who's in Spain will probably have recognized it too.

Thanks mousquet. The Basque community in Boise and Southwest Idaho is reported as one of if not the largest population of Basques outside of Spain and France. The history of the Basque in Boise goes back to when the city was founded.

For example, our current mayor is Basque, there is a Basque Studies program at Boise State University, a new Basque economic development office has been opened in downtown and is staffed by a member of the Basque government.

Each July, The San Inazio Festival, an annual event to honor St. Ignatius of Loyola is celebrated and every five years the Jaialdi International Basque Festival is held in Boise. Back in 2010 I posted a photo thread with several photos of Jaialdi. Here is that link if you are interested.
