The plot thickens with the seller's description.

"426 Downey Ave.". Photographed by "(A.?) M. Lingfelter View Artist". There is a handwritten notation in the bottom left quadrant
of the back which reads "....E. L. A. Calif.". We believe that references East Los Angeles of which Downey avenue is a part,
to the best of our knowledge. Although the houses are not identified as to their residents, we think, that one of the homes,
possibly the one on the right, was the home of the photographer. The home on the right we believe is still standing;
we do not know the fate of the other home. We date the stereoview to circa 1910."....(I think 1910 is a bit late)

I haven't been able to find the house that the seller thinks is still standing.

J. M. Lingfelter appears in numerous other city directories. . .nearly all of them at different addresses.

I think that 426 Downey Avenue was the photographer's address. Although J M Lingfelter isn't listed there, it was a photograph gallery from 1891 to 1895. In 1891 it was Kraus & Saunders (Henry D Kraus and F M Saunders). In 1893, F M Saunders had gone and another photographer, Louis Kraus appears, but he also goes by 1895. Henry D lived at 2802 Maple Avenue in 1891 and 1895, but both he and Louis are listed at 400 East Fifth in 1893.

By 1897, 426 Downey Avenue was a harness and saddlery belonging to Albert H Hammond (obviously not the Albert Hammond who sang "It Never Rains in Southern California" ). The street directory in the 1897 CD lists the harness shop immediately before "AVENUE 21 intersects". Downey Avenue is now N Broadway, and the west side of its intersection with Avenue 21 is the embankment at the side of the Golden State Freeway, so the building definitely isn't still standing. The location of the houses, however, remains a mystery for now.

I believe I did visit the Pussycat on the Boulevard sometime around 1973, but I have better memories of the more famous one. I still have a few of those old 8x10s, but most I have sold on eBay over the years. At my age, I don't need to keep them anymore. If I close my eyes, they are just as clear as holding them in my hand.

I did save the ones I had autographed to me by Buddy Rogers, Fred Astaire, Ray Milland and Cornel Wilde. In those days, I would hang out at the Brown Derby Coffee Shop, the Ontra Cafeteria and the Plaza Coffee Shop. A lot of old time movie stars still roamed Hollywood then. Fond memories of lunch with Lash LaRue at the Ontra and coffee with Cornel Wilde at the Brown Derby.

Yesterday, I watched a second-rate film noir from RKO called “Nocturne” (1946) because it starred George Raft and I wanted to see what the guy most famous for knocking back roles that made Humphrey Bogart a star was like. Turns out, he’s woefully wooden. But they did shoot on location a fair bit, including this scene at the Gotham Delicatessen. We've seen the Gotham around these here parts before but the screengrab I did turned out pretty clearly so I thought I'd post it here.

I found somewhere a reference to the Gotham Special Sandwich, which it advertised as being big enough for two. One account I read said: “There was no food on the face of the earth better than Gotham’s. You could get everything there. The food was unequaled. It was just like it was a banquet.” It was listed in the 1956 L.A. City Directory, so it had a long run.

One of these days, I'd love to find an interior shot. This movie had a scene inside the Gotham but it looked suspiciously like a set inside a soundstage. But I did wonder if the set designer modeled it on what the actual Gotham looked like inside.

You are wildly misinformed. CBD is legal. You can buy it over the internet as long as its not mixed with THC. I produce a TV show about the Cannabis Industry and have done whole episodes on CBD. I assure you, the products out there help a lot of people.

I wonder if the exterior of the Florentine Gardens was ever captured on movie film at night. There's no doubt that some of the neon flash and traveled
but it's impossible to tell in a still image. The colors used in the neon is a mystery as well.

I imagine the details of the neon are filed away somewhere in the bowels of a defunct neon company.

Hmmm. . .the apex of the neon looks a bit like the Bat Signal. The 'wings' appear to be two arrows pointing to 'Florentine Gardens'.

George Raft lived in various places around Hollywood, including the Mark Twain and the El Royale. When I watched "Nocturne," and other movies with Raft, I noticed many scenes were shot near his residences. I wonder if he made movies based on where they were filmed?

Raft was a regular at La Dolce Vita in Beverly Hills. A plaque with his name still rests above his favorite booth. When he passed away, he left his Cadillac to Ruben Castro, the maitre d.

My grandparents and my parents were regulars at Musso~Frank, but my mother would always mention the Gotham, her other favorite. It was not as famous as the Brown Derby, but it was equally popular with locals.

Again, you're confused. Marijuana is considered Hemp if the THC in the plant is below 3%. If you are getting CBD from Marijuana other than Hemp, the THC is above 3% and that's a no no. It can have as much CBD in it as possible. The only thing the FDA is concerned with is THC because of its psychoactive effects. CBD has none, so yes, the products on the market are made from Hemp which only has CBD and are available for interstate commerce. CBD mixed with THC is what isn't legal and that's not being marketed as CBD products or sold interstate.

Looks largely unchanged except for the updated landscaping. I think its one of the better examples of Tudor style. The roofs seem more steeply pitched than usual...
