This looks great. Love that they’re re-purposing the one building. Build it!

God, I can't get over how much I love the design of this tower. It looks so good. I'm really excited for it to go up, especially considering what the area looks like right now.

It's sexy. Like, this might be my favorite design in quite awhile. Only concern is materials.

Looks terrific. The decorative glass elements really work, and I love the balconies, second floor greenery, and that there is a little bit of a decorative crown. In an era and city when a lot of smaller highrise projects are lazy, this is not lazy. I wish the Cambria looked more like this...hope the materials used here are quality and it ends up looking like these renders once built out.

Huge changes for this stretch in the next couple years since the enterprise garage adjacent to this is also getting demo'd and redeveloped as is the Wendy's down the street at Walnut.

I do love the design of this building. I just hope they change the name at some point. "Blue Ivy" makes me think of either Beyonce's daughter or a U.S. Nuclear test.

Check my note I included in the OP

Where did they actually get the name?

Apparently this thing is to feature a "stylish Greek restaurant" on the ground floor, according to this article:

Estia Group to Develop 14-Story Blu Ivy Hotel in Philadelphia
Quote:
PHILADELPHIA — Locally based firm Estia Group will develop a 14-story Blu Ivy hotel at 122 S. 11th St. in Philadelphia. The 86-room property will house Anthos, a two-story restaurant that offers Mediterranean and Greek cuisine. Both the hotel and the restaurant, which will offer bar seating for 23 guests and floor seating for 198 patrons, are scheduled to be complete in fall 2020. The development team includes designer DAS Architects and structural engineer O’Donnell & Naccarato.
If they expect to finish this thing a year and a half from now, I'd imagine that they'll probably start construction by the end of the summer.

Blu Ivy Set for a 2020 Debut in Philadelphia
Quote:
Local practice DAS Architects has announced plans to craft Blu Ivy, a new 14-story hotel and restaurant in Philadelphia that is set to open in 2020.

Slated for development adjacent to Jefferson Hospital, the 86-key hotel will feature a façade of glass, aluminum, and bronze accents. A warm, neutral palette will permeate the interior to emphasize elements like the expansive green walls one each floor.

“The elegance and comfort of Blu Ivy will be a welcome addition to the surrounding medical neighborhood,” says David A. Schultz, cofounder and principal of DAS Architects. “It will offer a serene environment for those needing to heal or simply to visitors who want a quiet contemplative place in Midtown.”

The two-story Mediterranean restaurant Anthos, which translates to “flowering,” will reference the Greek heritage of the owners. Embellished with a steel pergola and planters of ivy, it will welcome diners with folding glass partitions that extend the 198-seat dining room into the streetscape. A 23-seat bar will also be featured onsite.
Looks like some premium materials on this one. If you can't tell, I'm REALLY excited for this project to go up.

More than speculation

Posting this here because people are reading this thread right now.

Old Family Court 5-star Hotel will be announced just after the Four Season’s opening press run.

Speculation: J.W.Marriott as the brand.

^Exactly what I was hoping for. Our city sorely lacked that brand and a grand classical edifice is the perfect fit.

I wonder if the developers took into consideration that the JeffStat helipad is directly across the street from this building...I live nearby and it gets SO loud whenever they're flying in or out.

Great point. They're gonna want some REALLY good sound insulation. When I was taking classes at Jefferson it was pretty distracting.

Also ew at the article referring to it as "Midtown"
