What project is this? The picture of the building looked familiar but I couldn't place it.

Pool addition for WalkOns is interesting. Is there anything out there about what the finished product will be? I’ve never been a big fan but between the extensive work, beer garden, and now pool, this could have potential of being quite an attraction for downtown.

Six Flags site was narrowed down to two proposals today, with the local group including Drew Brees getting a higher score than the remaining group from Dallas that wants to do a water park and light rail from the airport. https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...a90410c26.html

The Bayou Phoenix group is not from Dallas they are a local development team based out of New Orleans East, their master development partner is Hillwood investment which is based out of Dallas, they would be the financial backbone of the master development which received overwhelming support from the New Orleans east community over 300 public comments in support of them. This team also has added STEM NOLA for STEM education for our youth at the development and Transdev the former operator of RTA to build light rail from Louis Armstrong international to the future Development.

https://bayouphoenix.com/

The Drew Brees/DeMario Davis development team which doesn’t have any developments in New Orleans or Eastern New Orleans has a development/Financial partner based out of Denver (Kiernan West LLC). They are mainly focused on developing a logistics center which both teams have plans to do but the Urban farming aspect of their plan has not been accepted by the community.

The New Orleans east community has consistently stated that they want an amusement park, retail and fine dining and educational experience for the youth. All the community meetings I called into didn’t have any representation from the Brees group it was only the Stitus team that didn’t get selected for this coming round and the Bayou Phoenix team.

Any chance for the two teams to get together?

I believe it may be an opportunity for the two teams to work together it just wound be interesting with who develops the logistics hub, I personally trust Hillwood/Bayou Phoenix team just based off their facilities and fortune 500 companies they work with. Also I believe the Brees proposal like some of the community members mentioned in the comments, is not best suited for that site and it can go at a different location in the east due to the east having lots of acreage. The Bayou Phoenix team actually wants to redevelop the current site into a real regional water park and amusement park and have already stated talking to major amusement park operators.

Tbh both can be developed in the east but the Brees non profit can be developed on either adjacent land or another site in like NOE or the 9th ward. While the Bayou Phoenix proposal wants to utilize the existing infrastructure and bring the community what they want.
