185 Horton, London International Academy

https://www.london.ca/business/Plann...ember-2019.pdf

LIA is proposing a 16s residence building and underground parking behind their existing 3s building on the south side of Horton, just east of Richmond. The goal is to have all their students living in one place, rather than scattered around downtown in various locations.

I think this is wonderful news. It is key to put some residential development in the area to bridge the psychological barrier that exists between Old South and the downtown.

Fantastic

I 100% support this project. It's exactly what this part of the city needs. I think the proposal looks beautiful.

Assuming it ever gets built it will be a great addition to downtown.

Alot of projects are announced but never happen.

Horton street is perfect for additional density and a number of projects have been proposed but never acted upon.

Here's hoping this one gets a shovel in the ground ASAP.

They appear to still want to proceed with this 16s proposal despite the pandemic. - https://londonincmagazine.ca/2021/02...ional-academy/

Not a great looking building but not bad considering it's a student dorm.

probably much better than what we might otherwise expect given the location

Such developments in previously unpopulated areas often are the catalyst for other developments. This would be ideal for the SOHO area as this section of it is generally considered a no-man's-land stuck between downtown and Old South.

This proposed project has gone silent. Suspect the pandemic may have killed it.

Speaking of downtown student housing this proposal has gone quiet. Any indication they are still planning to go ahead with this?
