I've decided to create a thread for The BEECHVILLE - LAKESIDE - TIMBERLEA community. The reason for this is two new Halifax Planning applications in the area;

Case 22879 - Lovett Lake which seeks to add a third phase and additional lands to the Armco community.

Case 22898 - Brunello Estates which seeks approval for Phase 4 which will see the construction of 333 residential units in 3 buildings at Timberlea Village Parkway and Marketway Lane. The buildings are proposed to be 16/12/12 stories.

Development permit has been issued for a vacant commercial lot between Timberlea Sobeys and Timberlea Village Parkway. The future use has not been identified but I can confirm it is not the future Petro Canada (that lot is on the other side of Marketway Lane).

Also a construction permit has been issued for 1898 Saint Margaret's Bay Road for a 8'500 sq ft commercial building. This site is part of the new commercial strip next to Timberlea Village Parkway.

Three updates for the area;

Case 22396 is seeking a rezoning and DA for 14 acres of vacant land in Timberlea. The applicant is proposing 67 low-density units on public streets connecting Elm Grove Avenue and Myra Road.

Case 22898 is seeking non-substantive amendments to allow for 333 units in three residential buildings. These are dubbed "The Fairway at Eleven" and will be 16/12/12 stories and built at the future intersection of TVP and Marketplace Drive. IIRC the land is currently being cleared and road works have begun for this intersection. There are renderings in the report.

And a construction permit was issued recently for a 8'600 sq ft commercial building at 1109 St. Margaret's Bay Road in Beechville. There is a rendering on site. Nothing too dramatic but I'll try to remember to grab a photo soon.

My understanding is that the new building is going to be a Canada Post Sorting Hub of some sort.

Thumbs up the community of BLT is growing!!!

Hi.

as most of you know and have seen over the years the community's of BLT are growing and more developments approved for the area and just passed is the funding for a $10M community center and they are not including a huge component that we area of BLT could use of a pool.

i have here a link for the website to a petition to create awareness that this is wanted and needed and to help bring it to the attention of the MLAs
(Iona stoddard, Ian rankin and so on)

thanks

The Timberlea Sobeys has been joined by Dollarama. Next door a Needs / Fast Fuel just opened and the NSLC fit-up is underway.

A construction permit has been issued for 1831 St. Margaret's Bay Road, Timberlea. It's for a 3-storey motel use. This is the vacant lot across from Circle K / Irving.

Does anyone know details of this project?

do we know what Bruno builders are building on the water frontage lot on the st Margaret bay road?

also where is the bluebird self storage going to be built?

thanks for the information i just hope they are not building a self storage place on the water that would be a waste of great space for the community.

Apparently no need to build quality when the market is hot.

The Bruno Builders project has Governor Lake frontage. It's listed as 3-storey hotel/motel use. There's Stardust Motel a few doors down so the use is not new to the area. The entire northern shore of the lake is public and easily accessible. As long as it's not over the top ugly a motel should be fine on this site.

The Blue Bird Storage will be across the street between the Tim Horton's and North Brewing.

Construction permit has been issued for PetValu attached to Sobeys at 61 Marketway Lane. There are excavators already on site.

A building permit has been submitted for 30 Marketway Lane (across from NSLC). The applicant is hoping to build a 446 sq m restaurant.

A 4'800 sq ft restaurant backing onto the Highway 103 interchange certainly seems likely to be a fast-food drive-thru. I put my vote towards A&W continuing their Halifax market expansion.

4800 sf? Isn't that pretty huge for A&W?

I had long heard McDonald's would pop up in the Marketview area, this could be that.

1831 St. Margaret's Bay Road details from Bruno Builders Instagram.

"All good buildings start with a strong foundation. That goes for friendships too. We’re excited to be working with @shiningwatersmarina on this new boutique hotel in Timberlea, which will also feature 5 commercial spaces!"
