 This building still has an interesting 1950s (40?) bar facade, with the curved glass blocks on either side of the entrance.

The building in question appears to be 4216 Melrose Avenue. I found a build date of 1947 on
sfrealtors.com.
The 1956 CD lists it as Petta's Italian Restaurant and Stein's Restaurant & Cocktail. The address is missing from the next couple of CDs, but it reappears as The Rogue in 1963, and becomes The Red Rogue by 1967. It's still The Red Rogue in 1973. The 1987 entry just says Stud.
It now seems to be a gay bar called Faultline. I'm guessing that Stud may also have been a gay bar, but I don't know about the Rogue years. From
