Strangely, by-right permit drawings are not released to the public in HRM. I believe you can examine them in person on request, but they will not give copies and they aren't posted anywhere publicly.

I wonder how long it will be before a crane goes up?

No sign of a base yet. It’s funny, driving by it seems much deeper than that photo appears to be.

A mobile crane was in pouring concrete here. This seems to be starting similar to the Dexel site on Mumford, I suspect they are waiting on tower crane availability. I wonder with the confines of the site if the luffing job from Brenton Street will go here, that building is pretty well topped out.

This crane should be going up this week. R&D's large mobile crane is on site, with a fair bit of lattice extension, so it will probably go up fairly tall.

I live in the building next door, 7211 Quinpool Rd. They just put this up today. Gives a good indication of the size

Wonder if they will put it up to the max 32 floors to start with or if this will be a crane that can jack itself up. Or worst case, we're in for another Halifax Tower Hotel.

I remain a bit skeptical too. However:

- 7177 Quinpool is listed by a development company that worked on the Nova Centre while the Halifax Tower Hotel was Cosmos and they only list small to medium residential buildings.

- This is an obviously desirable location for a residential highrise whereas the Bayers Lake hotel was farther outside of the norm.

- If I recall correctly the approved building allows for unusually small floor plates, so I wonder if this kind of construction would be economical if it were cut significantly below 32 floors.

I don't think any tower crane is stable enough to be built all the way up to 32 floors without a building to secure to.

As Someone123 said, the zoning on this one was tricky and it has to be a skinny building in order to go tall. And if I recall there was a unit count that suggested no more than 3 units per floor. I don't foresee this one getting chopped off the way the Bayers Lake Hotel lost its top half.

It doesn’t look like they made much progress here today, no cab or boom. Space will be tight to assemble the boom and hoist it. This seems like an ideal spot for a luffing jib crane.

well, this happened yesterday! I'm sure there will be an investigation happening tomorrow. Didn't seem like anyone was hurt, but they have caution tape around the machine at the moment.

Anyone know the current status or heard any news on this one? It's been a while since I drove by.
