So amazing, love the one with the transportation hub peeking around the backside of T3. Just awesome.

What on earth is the ugly giant white box? I hope nobody's planning on building that.

It's really more of a massing model. Don't get hung up on the details. I didn't. That thing took like 8 minutes to make.

Redid One Liberty Plaza, as the old one looked pretty crappy. I hadn't really looked all that close at the building, but it's a really cool design. It's a monument to steel and the I beam.

And while I'm doing existing buildings, I think I'll finally finish this one...

sick detail, just SICK! Looking fwd to seeing the antenna.

And I'm sure you have a long to do list but after seeing that art deco rendering goodness I'd love to see one of the Chrysler's gargoyles modeled too someday.

I'm not doing the Chrysler building, for 3 reasons:

1) It took me ~60 minutes to do the very nice model of One Liberty plaza
2) It took me ~two days to do the 84-85th floors of Empire State
3) It tooke me 2 days with a reasonably accurate set of blueprints (they're not final, which is why you see two zig-zags at the 84th floor parapet, as you see below, I've referenced photos to correct the alteration). I do not have and Chrysler prints.

Current Progress

As far as I'm aware, no one else has used any blueprints.

Basically going from the top back down and adding details and fixing little errors.

Replaced the stone material with something more realistic. Have been tweaking it ever since. Liking it more and more.

OLD

NEW

Toned down the patches of filth to give it a cleaner look.

2" 55th story setback

30th Fl crests. Still needs some work. Will finish tomorrow.

Compared to 4WTC

3WTC

Roof detail, note this is the building as it was built in 1931. Later additions will be added later, as a way to switch the building between then and now.

Core of mast and study of the frosted glass in the crown.

For those that have ever wondered how they cram 16 floors into the mast of the Empire State Building: they didn't. They go from 86 to "AA", "BB", etc. until they get to GG, which is now called the 102nd floor. However, there's only 97 floors in the whole tower, counting the glorified stair landings in the mast. 98 if you include a small walkway that's in the actual cone at the top.

General arrangement of mast.

Just have to punch out the portholes above the "103rd" floor and the mast is pretty much done.

Groundbreaking work to say the least. What does it say when an amateur can model buildings better than any professional studio?

Are you planning on doing the entire antenna later?

^Even better

AS BUILT:

NOW (well, it's missing the handicap ramp, and all of the little random ugly antennas, but you get the idea)
