I’m sick of this building, I don’t care if it just goes away.

In fact, why doesn’t everyone who reserved a unit cancel and get one in Aqua or Mandarin, so we can get those built.

There is one big thing that the Elysian had/has over Aqua or the Mandarin, location, location, location.

I will go check it out tomorrow, and bring a camera. I haven't been by it in quite a while.

Other than the sign there was nothing noticable. They were putting up a sign for 10 E. Deleware

Has 10 E. Delaware sold enough units to warrant demo'ing what's left of that poor block?

This building is very beautiful and reminds me of Park Tower. I have yet to find a Chicago high-rise that detracts from the skyline. Every new tower either under construction or proposed are unique and beautiful. Most cities have several highrises that should never have been built, such as the MetLife Building in New York, but Chicago has a knack for getting the best highrises. Kudos to you all.

They haven't even began to market the units yet. They just have a website up I believe.

Just as banks require 50% sales before financing a project, the city of Chicago should have a similar rule: 50% sales of a development before issuing a demolition permit.

That sure would have saved us a lot of what was lost--the old Merc Exchange, Block 37, the list goes on and on....

As BVictor already said, there is jack shit happening over at The Elysian site:

on the plus side, you can see that they are working on installing the top floor window wall on 30 W Oak, in the background...

^ I was just about to say that since nothing is happening at the site that at least 30 W Oak is looking tasty.

For sure. It isn't that tall, but is coming out pretty damned nice, and sticks out well for its location. The residents will have nice views of that park that is just a block or two south.

They should've taken care of that a long time before now. It should've been approved before they even began marketing.

You are absolutely right! I've been cringing at each new building in NYC, but psyched about Chicago development. It's a great city getting better. Oh and that new place on Oak is awesome.

It was approved a long time ago. What they are going for is an amendment to the zoning. Because the number of units and parking spaces has changed, they need to go through the plan commission for the changes to be approved.
