Uncontrolled development is what happens with suburban sprawl. There's been too much nipple twisting as it is.

Actually, (I could always be wrong, but....) I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.....I don't think the mayor is in a political muscle-flexing mood much these days, and not looking for opportunities to anger and alienate, and to cause distrust in additional constituencies (to the extent that there still are some out there to check off the list!)......

Eighth to Eleventh Street
Most of the buildable sites located in the District are located at the south boundary, from Eighth to
Eleventh Street, with less than 50% of the streetwall frontage contributing to the historic district. These
facts, coupled with the existing new high-rise construction around these two blocks supports new
construction that may bridge the height differences between the existing historic buildings in the core of
the district and the new construction south of Eleventh Street at the district boundary. Heights of new
construction in this section of the district can fall between 400 – 900 feet.

Should applicants choose to exceed the existing district heights from Eighth to Eleventh Street, they
should be advised that the design for a tall building should still be compatible with the historic characteristics
of the district, and respect the existing tower massing, etc. seen within the district as described by these
guidelines.

As I mentioned in the boom rundown, this project should be coming before the plan commission in April.

Also, I believe there will be another community meeting regarding this project on Monday, February 29th, held at the Hotel Blake at 6:00PM.

My initial take: This new design is definitely a move in the right direction.......this is clearly a refinement......good stuff so far - I like what I see....very nice elegantly subtle complexity and fluidity to its shape.....nice touch of structural espresso on to boot......

Floor plate increases in size a bit (in addition to changing shape) as tower rises....
