Teams as a platform is my favourite, but I’ve also found it to be very bandwidth heavy. Unless I’m missing something I don’t see any way to opt out of seeing other users on video or to reduce the bitrate on those video feeds. I've used Teams/Zoom/Google Meet lately..or even FaceTime or WhatsApp meet.

Is Teams basically the professional version of Skype..which seems to have been left in the dust lately.

I was on a Teams meeting lately and I turned off my camera as I didn't want one person to see my reaction to them everytime they spoke

Better video calling then Skype, better integration with meetings/calls then Outlook + Skype, much easier to get started with than Slack once the entire company directory is already at your fingertips. I thought having 3 people working simultaneously on an excel file would never work, but with how you can actually open the file in the desktop app and autosave to the version on Teams is a life saver. No more waiting on someone to get out of the file or having 3 different versions with each person's initials floating around waiting to get consolidated.

I’d be surprised if the call quality were better than Skype for Business, as Teams is simply a new UI.

My kid has Teams for his homework assignments, and I'm surprised and impressed on how much more he knows about the thing than I do.

With the global shutdown and my entire industry being annihilated (tourism) and classes being over until September, I have started painting for the first time in my life. My first piece right now is a realism style painting of the Jupiter System. I have also re-started running every day for the first time since high school, and working out more than usual again which is nice. I’ve also been more creative with my cooking, finding new ways of making an old timey recipe with more simple ingredients. Oh and I’ve bought a few books. And cleaning... lots and lots of cleaning.

As I’m sure many of you have noticed in my posts I’ve also been doing a lottt more photo walks around the city as well.

I am considering taking a summer class or two, using a bit of my CESB money towards that, and getting a quantitative research requirement out of the way before my last year starts (I hate quantitative). It’d be a nice way to get my ass back in gear before the full blown semester starts in September. However, considering this is my first break from classes since July 2018, I am not sure if I want to possibly ruin my summer with a quantitative class. Tough decisions.
