Based on these renderings, it will be an "L" shaped building as the existing structure along the alley will be demolished for the new building. It will be massive but a welcome addition in my opinion.

Finally, some neighbors and residents of the neighborhood are still against this and are wanting a meeting to discuss this and request changes.

if it had a larger setback to match the 4-plex, with some trees those people would probably (?) shut up. according to that rendering thats a pretty narrow sidewalk, anyway. i used to live like a block from there and don't remember how it is in person, but it probably should be back a bit more anyway for a wider sidewalk, and to allow for outside seating if it's a restaurant.

that whole strip is a funny mish-mosh of 19th century and early 20th urban design, i imagine that corner building is one of the older ones before morganfords width was set.

I think the rendering is off slightly. The existing building has a 4 to 5 foot wide sidewalk on its sides and this new building is supposed to retain that size. It would be nice to have more space for outdoor seating for the café, but I don't see that happening as the first floor of the new building is going to be parking. The only retail space will be in the existing 1902 building at Wyoming and Morgan Ford. Also, this building's name is WYMO.

Progress on the historic Crescent Building - a building used in a variety of capacities since the 1930s.

After a $44-million dollar renovation, the CORTEX building will become labs and offices.

It is located near the new CORTEX MetroLink station.

SLU Unveils $50 Million ISE Building

The new project will replace the famed Dolphin Fountain and will be built East of Ritter Hall. The building is part of the Park's College of SLU which is home to several Science and Engineering buildings. This new building will be SLU's second Silver LEED building and will be a state of the art building that showcases what science education can be.

drives me crazy that they built that bank on the most prominent corner of the grove like its chesterfield. it literally was probably made a decision by someone who lives in chesterfield.

arguably this is a better location.

lets hope the global economy holds fast a bit longer. st. louis urban real estate only started booming like this the last time right at the damned end of the cycle. to be fair this has been a much longer, more productive cycle for the city.

Armory District Begins Construction & Newly Discovered Renderings

There are these beauties I have discovered. Whether or not these are still in the plan or never made it off of the concept board remains a mystery but the taller rectangular building by the Metro Station appears to be a update to the one from the drawings from January 9th (featured in article). I hope that this is for Phase 2 since the buildings look nice but I can't see GreenStreet spending an outrageous amount of money on two new towers here. Maybe it is just a concept, so I'm sharing them anyway. Also, there is new signage declaring that the hotel lobby is in the main Armory building. That is a change from earlier but the design looks the same.

The Armory District lies in Prospect Yards-Midtown in St. Louis and is situated between the Grand viaduct and elevated Highway 64.

Historic buildings that once housed St. Louis’ first Shriners Hospital for Children and the old Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) opened Aug. 1 as the newly renovated and named Core Apartment Residences on the Washington University Medical Campus.

The renovated complex at the corner of Euclid and Clayton avenues consists of two buildings with 160 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The project is part of a master plan integrating education, housing, pedestrian paths and common spaces to help forge connections and improve the overall student experience and enhance training. Studies indicate that where students live, study and socialize affects learning, productivity and happiness.

These renderings are hit or miss in quality but It thought I would post them anyway. There are two new exterior renderings of the office building and the first two renderings of the interior. The lobby in particular looks really good and is probably the most modern and upscale lobby in Downtown (Stifel and Met Square follows shortly afterward). And yes, that is a 7 floor parking garage just across the street from a 10 floor garage. The actual amount of parking floors is 6 since the first floor is retail and lobbies.

Everest Bar Plans Expansion in the Grove

...Currently occupied by an 1896 shotgun house (which will be demolished), 4143 Manchester will be a three floor building built as residential and an expansion to the neighboring Everest bar. The planned new building will follow the ultra modern architecture design that is being seen throughout the Grove. The design will include brick, wood and deep blue metal panels. Gray stucco accenting will also be included on the building but primarily on balcony facades...

Overall, it is a small project as it is only three floors and has 6 apartment units but it goes to show that building owners and developers will go to extremes to build the buildings they want in the city's hottest neighborhood.

Emily Pulitzer recruiting renowned architects to redevelop Olive Street

ST. LOUIS • Leveraging her connections to some of the architecture world’s biggest names, Emily Rauh Pulitzer and two partners are recruiting “internationally significant architects” for a $30 million housing development near Grand Center’s theaters and museums.

Pulitzer, whose family’s company formerly owned the Post-Dispatch, is a noted arts patron with an affinity for contemporary art. She built the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, a private art museum in Grand Center. Trampe led the rehab of the 1930s-era Continental Life Building, a 25-story Art Deco skyscraper near the corner of Olive Street and North Grand Boulevard.

Plans for the Olive Street project call for first building four model homes, each designed by “very different architects” from around the world, Trampe said. Prospective buyers would pick from those designs when they purchase a lot. Eventually, the team hopes to end up with designs from as many as a dozen different architects.

Though the architects are internationally renowned, Trampe said the homes wouldn’t be out of reach for middle-income buyers. They hope to offer new homes in the $400,000 range and build a neighborhood that attracts people who “really want to be part of something different.”

Scattered throughout the development will be various amenities — a fountain, a playground, a vegetable garden. They also plan to utilize the still-standing Henry L. Wolfner Memorial Library for the Blind, on the National Register of Historic Places but vacant for years. Plans call for turning it into a clubhouse with health and exercise equipment. St. Louis-based architecture firm Axi:Ome is designing the Wolfner building rehab.

The red-brick, Italian Renaissance Wolfner Library was constructed in 1898, originally as a telephone exchange for the Bell Telephone Company. The library for the blind opened in 1938 and was the first of its kind in the U.S. By 1940, it housed more Braille and talking books than any other library except the Library of Congress. It was named for Dr. Henry Wolfner, an eye doctor in St. Louis who died in 1935.

...The trio hopes to begin construction in the spring. They have already recruited renowned Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao and her Tatiana Bilbao Estudio for the project and plan to bring on more internationally acclaimed architects to design houses for the block.
