As I've said before, city reddits are great for seeing what's happening, bad or good. They comment on things the news wont.

Random photos I took yesterday, Saturday morning and Saturday night, 9.19.2020.

The mansion where music producer Phil Spector murdered actress Lana Clarkson, located on a knoll. Not far from where I live. I drive by this neighborhood often, and when the murder occurred and I found out where Phil Spector lived, I was like 'wow, so all this time, I was driving near Phil Spector's house.'

The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, currently home of the L.A. Opera, and before the Walt Disney Concert Hall was built, was also the home of the L.A. Philharmonic. It's also used for other musical and dance performances. This was the venue for the Academy Awards ceremonies from 1969-1987, 1990, 1992-1994, 1996, and 1999. They also used to hold US Citizenship swearing-in ceremonies here---my parents took their oath of US Citizenship at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

This group of 3 guys were walking towards us and approached our table. One of them asked us if we were Jewish---I thought it was obvious that we weren't, but we said "No, we're not." My partner asked "Why do you ask?" And the guy said "Well it's the new year, and we wanted to wish you a Happy New Year." My partner and I said "Well, Happy New Year." They all smiled and said thank you, and wished us a Happy New Year again. We realized it was Rosh Hashanah.

The same 3 guys asked a few other tables, and I guessed they found someone who was Jewish, because they then stood around and one of them started playing his horn.

I think the Bobcat Fire is now up to 60-something % containment.

Reviewing the thread, you really got to tell yourself that street art is an amazing thing.
Like how to make a bland blank wall look pretty, interesting and inspiring. It's just fabulous.
Making an extensive use of it seems very smart to me.

Street art definitely adds a splash of color to a place. And it can trigger different people differently, can even be polarizing---and I think that's what I like about it; it brings out people's opinions of how a place should supposedly look. And I really love subversive art, in all forms.

Love the freeway/bridge photos, it looks weird to see the roads with very little traffic. Although traffic in some parts of the city seems like it’s back to normal.

Also love the shots you captured of the metro trains, I do look forward to riding the metro again.

I look forward to riding the metro again too. I haven't ridden it since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Very random photos taken yesterday, Saturday, 10.10.2020.

Long Beach's newest tallest building nearly topped out.

The new Gerald Desmond Bridge (I assume it'll be given another official name later, being that it replaces the old Gerald Desmond Bridge) opened to traffic on Monday (10.5.20). I just had to drive it. The bicycle-pedestrian path is not open yet.

The Vincent Thomas Bridge in the background there.

Port of Long Beach, second busiest shipping port in the US, second only to...

...the adjoining Port of Los Angeles, busiest shipping port in the US.

Fast-forward several hours...

Petersen Automotive Museum.

Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, almost done with construction. They've repurposed an old Streamline Moderne May Company department store building that was completed in 1939 (and that my family used to shop at---I remember going there as a child and shopping there well into my teens; it closed in 1992) and built an addition. The museum was supposed to open at the end of this year, but will open some time next year.

This is within Los Angeles city limits. But yes, near the outskirts of the city.
