^So you think it would look good next door to NEMA or across the street to the West? Which direction would you have it face?

I'm happy it's where it is. LSE needed (and still needs) some architectural punch. I strongly dislike the majority of high-rises in this area of town. Vista helps a lot, but there are a lot of ugly and/or forget-able buildings here.

^^^^^

This location right here.

I think its developed now, as the image date is back in the day, but in an alternative world, I think it would look great there.

I kinda feel like the whole Central Station or Prairie District needs more of a counter balance skyline and bulk wise.

^ the eastern portion of that lot is where NEMA now stands.

and the western portion is planned for an even taller companion to NEMA.

as for the central station area in general, i would say it's bulking up pretty nicely up now:

No, they chose what they chose. I personally like the black louvers, I just think silver would complete the rainbow of the top frustrum set.
I mean, they didn't even have the blow thru floor planned properly when construction had already began. And the glass detailing and shading has changed substantially after construction began also. After a lot of issues.
So no, I don't really think these things really were thought through properly. Look at how badly the dark louvers clash. That isn't portrayed in any of the renderings. It wasn't intentional, at least originally.

Imo the black louvers are also ugly, but you're right we all have different taste and standards.

I recall they didn't have blow-thru planned AT ALL when construction began, let alone properly. They were forced to add one because it didn't wind test well AFTER construction already started. Now that's a major fuck-up. But I digress.

If anything I've learned from following progress of buildings on this forum, it is to hold off final judgement until it's finished. My opinion has changed several times already on Vista and I think when that top frustum gets glazed and tidied up, along with the blow-thru, it will impress and the louvers will become less of an issue and perhaps even made to seemingly make more sense. Here's hoping.

Agree with location issues. Some of Vista's neighboring buildings really deter from it's beautiful shape. Especially the one directly east in the seemingly same color glass. Uck.

Hahahahaa. Sorry golden dusk. Not only are those photos pretty much the same photos we get here on the daily, but the drop shadow on that © look ridiculous. Chill with that.

Those are some very nice shots - up there with Nick's. I don't quite get the hostility towards professionals who opt to share their work on this forum.

I would love to see Golden Dusk do another Chicago set in January - diversify their decidedly balmy portfolio.

It definitely appears to be lost on me. I'm trying to read the original comment's sarcasm and its evading me

Anyway, people definitely need to feel welcome to post here.

I don't mean to be rude, i'm usually civil on this forum.

When I see a post from either of you two, I feel connected to the city, intrigued, informed. Frequent users such as yourselves are why I have been checking this forum daily ever since I found out about it.

When I see a fat watermark from an account that has never posted in this thread before, I feel like I'm being advertised to. Maybe it's because I grew up in the internet age but I have no patience for that.

Goldendusk is welcome to post here, but I'm welcome to defend a thread I love from self promo.

I suppose I can see what you're saying, especially with that added context. I just remember when I was first posting some crappy iPhone pictures here and was nervous people were going to make fun of my shots of WPE lol

Anyway... back on track with some pictures:
