Gastown and Yaletown both have lots of people, as do Robson, Denman, and Davie.
There could be more lights and more people but to say that downtown is dead and comparable to Detroit, really?
Don't you live in Surrey or something?

Living in Surrey doesn't make a difference. I spend a lot of time downtown and have a lot of associates and friends that live right on Granville and in many other areas of Vancouver, many of which are worldly aka have lived in many other cities world wide to compare. The definition of night life though isn't 100 people walking up and down the street at midnight. The definition of night life is having places to go and things to do at night in an area.
You compare Vancouver to many other cities world wide of similar population, and the list is quite scarce. That's just the truth. Is there a night life? Sure.
And regarding the neon, like I said, you look at the history and it was more in the past. If you think today has a lot, then you are unfortunately again mistaken.
Like I said though, does it have a night life? Sure. Is it amazing though? Not a chance. Not compared to the world and even cities with less population than Vancouver. It could do better. Much better.
As for calling it Detroit, I took a liberty there. I agree it isn't that bad, but it isn't Cabo San Lucas, Moscow, Dublin, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Rio De Jeneiro, Las Vegas, Sao Paulo, Montreal, Tel Aviv, Auckland, Baku, Cape Town, La Paz, Dubai, Belgrade, the list goes on. And I haven't even included the big hitters like London, New York, Moscow, etc.
Regardless, agree to disagree. I won't common further on this specific topic since the actual thread is about the Sears Pacific Center and I don't want to get too off topic.
