I don't think building a stone wall to the edge of the sidewalk in front of the main entrance would be an issue for the city. If you look carefully at the image, the outdoor patio for the hotel restaurant (Monk10) is fronted by a stone wall which extends to the edge of the sidewalk.

I presume it was just a landscaping decision of the developers. I agree that maintaining a small sliver of grass like this will be more trouble than it is worth.

This photo makes me simultaneously very angry and very happy. Anger because of the horrible mistakes of Calgary's past, and happy because of the vast opportunities even just in this small area alone.

Good Calgary shots. Love that urban Canadian Tire. We have a serious lack of hardware stores in the urban area, with Preston Hardware and two of Home Hardwares (we had three, but the one in the Market recently closed).

It's MacKimmie Tower at the University of Calgary, ostensibly the first major carbon neutral building on a university campus in the country.

Thanks Chad! It's gorgeous. I'd love an office proposal like that in Mississauga ...not tall by any means.. but well designed.

Yeah, it was a fantastic project to watch. They disassembled the exterior of the oldest and ugliest tower on campus, reinforced the superstructure, added three floors, and then reclad it in this dual skin facade and covered the roof in photovoltaics. Top notch for sure. They're now re-building the connected former MacKimmie Block as phase 2. That one is a total demolition and reconstruction. Not quite as nice, but still a great addition to campus. It will be carbon neutral as well, and will have photovoltaics on the SE corner and covering the roof.

I liked this shot of the Barrington/Hollis/Bishop area of Halifax. Foreground is the Maritime Centre podium construction site. This area has a nice mix of medium density infill and historic buildings but it's hard to take street level photos that convey the feel due to the small blocks, narrow streets, and blob-like rather than linear arrangement of the interesting stuff.

That is a gorgeous little church.

And WOW does RiverLanding ever look amazing in that Sask set. Just remember to try to keep it to 5 photos or less
