Calatrava is pretty good IMO, but now that his style is in many of the big cities, it doesn't have the unique value that it did 10 years ago. That said, I still like his style a lot.
I'm mostly bothered by Swedish domestic starchitects. For one, they're the only ones who seem to be allowed to do anything other than the standard box here (more variation plz!) and the dead ones' buildings/complexes are for some reason ALWAYS 100% protected. So what if it's just another suburban office park? OMFG Asplund designed it! don't build anything anywhere near it!
/so... basically I hate the way starchitect-worship here is fueling nimbys!
