Sad that Nobu needs to be in gen dev, but happy to see it's rising.

Are you insane? That’s the headquarters of CME Group. The link you provided did nothing but bolster that fact

Sometimes I think Mr. DT has "no connection to reality"...

I think he is just saying the buildings are not owned by CME, so this renovation isn't directly related to their financial well-being.

Should be a pretty sweet building if they get the detailing right:

^ No, Mr D said that CME has “ no connection” to that property. Yes, they are lessees, not owners, but it’s a ridiculous comment to say that a company has “no connection” to its corporate headquarters. I mean, come on....

I guess I thought it was obvious we were discussing ownership, since that's normally who makes decisions—and, more importantly, expenditures because they're "flush with cash"—regarding a building's lobbies, arcades, and exteriors.

Hayden West Loop

Nice tower. Horrible blank brick wall. What a waste of street presence catty-corner to new McD's HQ.

I noticed the excavator moving dirt at the Bentham site today. No sign of caissons yet.

^ Well, that's probably just the lobby entrance facing the other street, which obviously will still be there

You think? Still a mostly blank 1st floor, all they did was get rid of the glass and stay with brick.

Not really much of a change...

I think the glass would have looked a little better at least. It gives the facade a bit more visual variety. A blank brick wall seems a lot more uninviting to passing pedestrians.

Hayden West Loop is one of my least favorite projects in the neighborhood right now. The precast brick panels look very, very cheap in person. I'm sure the units will sell fast but man did they cheap out on the exterior.

Their website says they're 80% sold. Cheap facade materials can't stop the "hotness" of the West Loop.
