Sorry for bad quality in some of the pics, because of the rain and that the train was driving, but you can get an idea how it is to go by train along Sumida River.

Arriving in the Ryogoku district, that is part of the Sumida Ward, to visit the Tokyo-Edo Museum.

EDO-TOKYO MUSEUM:

Edo-Tokyo Museum is a museum of Tokyo during the Edo period (1603-1868). Edo was the old name of Tokyo. It is situated in a huge futuristic building in Ryogoku district in Sumida ward. Since the building, designed by Kiyonori Kikutake, stands on four large pillars you can walk underneath the building, and take the glass-enclosed escalators up to the main floor of the buildings. The shape of this enormous building is modelled after an old storehouse in the kurazukuri style. The museum was established in 1993 and has about 1.8 million visitors annually. The museum is adjacent to Ryōgoku Kokugikan, the national sumo arena.
Some of the main featureas of the museum are a life-size replica of the Nihonbashi Bridge (leading into Edo), the Nakamuraza Theatre and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Shōwa periods.
You find architectural scale models, interactive maps, sculptures, objects from different decades and real life size replicas of buildings in old Tokyo and Edo, both interiors and exteriors. You also find cars, bikes, stereos, toys and many more objects.
One of the most interesting sights is a scale 1:30 architectural model of The Kamiyashiki of Matsudaira Tadamasa, a residential complex outside the Edo Castle in the 17th century. An architectural model of Ginza in the early 1900s can also be found. There is also an open air branch of the museum with life size replicas of Edo buildings in another part of Tokyo, the western suburb of Koganei.
We went to this museum a very rainy day (the only rainy day during our visit actually) and spent many hours there.

^ Idk, they may be a bit jealy and/or contemptuous (due to old historical reasons or something) at the ultra modern megalopolis.
They shut their mouths and focus on themselves in a such a case, which is ok. That's the best thing to do.

I wanna go really bad. I have a few thousand euros left for a far-away trip. I don't know how expensive it is out there, but I'll be watching it.

I like their gigantic modern stuff; their manga-style show business that we all grew up on here in France; the funky ways they dress when they're not in their uniforms, that the French luxury fashion houses have been closely watching and ripping off for long; their techno DJs that rivaled the Detroit/Chicago trend; their unparalleled transportation system, like several times bigger than ours here in Paris, which is yet pretty big; and all.

They have a lot of sophisticated culture over there. We know about this here. E.g., I have a bad girlfriend from South Korea who always sounds jealous and spiteful when you talk about Japan to her.
That's a good sign to me. It just is something to experience, should it only be as a stupid tourist. Tokyo a must-see.

I have one advice if you saved money: go, you won't forget it! But be prepared it is really expensive,
A beer is around 100 euro and a cheap dinner about 200euro. I think I spent about 1800 euro, with eight days, and a mix of 3-star and 4-star hotels with good standard. No taxi, but a lot of metro and a two day trip to Nikko (the train and the round tour pass in Nikko was probably the most expensive thing on the trip).

About the people, I found the Japanese people much more open then I could imagine and quite Western in their style, Tokyo is an international city after all. Almost everything spook English quite okay, or good. Everyone tried to help, all the time. We talked with some random people, that were both curious and polite.

100 euro for a beer? are you sure? that is $146.00 Canadian. at 7-11 and most restaurants, beer was well under $5 Canadian. I found Tokyo much cheaper to eat out than I find Canada, A bottle of coke in Tokyo was about 85 cents to $1.40 - In Canada for the same we pay $2.60 or more.

that museum looks cool.

Oh, sorry I meant 10 euro of course (was thinking in Swedish crowns that would have been 100) but that is still very expensive. Sweden is an expensive country, especially Stockholm, but I found Tokyo even more expensive. But metro and transport was very cheap I think!
