[Fredericton] Performing Arts Centre

This is the thread for the new Performing Arts Centre, meant to replace the Playhouse.

The project has been approved for the corner of King and Regent Street in the downtown core (across from Tim Hortens, on the old Bus terminal location, next to the new Courthouse building).

Some information about the site, including some renderings.

Budget: $81.7M, approved June 12, 2023
Estimated Completion: Late 2026

Timeline:
  • June 12, 2023: Project approved
  • November 2023: Parking lot closed to begin site preparation
  • December 2023: FYI Doctors moves to a new location.
  • January 2024: FYI Doctors building torn down.
  • April 2024: Construction officially starts

Here is the location for anyone not familiar.

What is missing from the street-view is the delayed (but well underway) courthouse that is situated in same parking lot.

Construction starts on new PAC

Construction officially starts on the new PAC, though it was mostly just ceremony and a PR show for the parties involved. Still, I believe I've heard they expect most of the spring to be spent on foundational work, and we should see steel going up by the summer.

Estimated completion date will be late 2026.

I don't think I've heard of any plans for the Playhouse yet.
