So many beautiful buildings in Chicago and Steely picks that ugly rust heap known as the Daley center? Shows something about judgement.

For my money, the most beautiful building in the Chicago area is the Bahai temple in Willmette,

Some other choices include

Robey house

Wrigley Building

Adler planetarium

Carson Pirie Scott building

Lake Point Tower

Rookery

And if you have to have international school
860 Lake Shore Drive

hey Evergrey: what about the Heinz Chapel? That's probably my favorite out of the buildings on the Oakland Acropolis. It has such unusual massing and it's pretty tall for such a little church:

I notice that LA is still unrepresented in this discussion.

For me, the most beautiful building in the LA area is the Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes by Lloyd Wright (Frank's Son).

others might prefer Gehry's Disney Hall

or IM Pei's UCB building

or Richard Meir's Getty center

or Pierre Koenig's case study house #22

or Phillip Johnson's crystal cathedral

and then there's........

We've got some seriously gnarly buildings in Boise (though we've got some great ones in the pipeline), anyway the Idanha building has been around forever, recently renovated into apartments:

Forgive the terrible pictures, I can't find anything decent on the interwebs, need to run downtown one of these days and take some pics of it.

For New York City:
The Chrysler Building (Arguably the most attractive hi-rise in the world).

And my other favorite: Trump World Tower

Call it what you want, but I say it's bold and powerful.

Another runner-up, another gem. That said, I don't think anything beats the American Radiator Building.

It really isn't the most significant building by any means in Minneapolis in terms of architecture but I am a fan of it. While it really isn't my favorite, it definately gets overshadowed

(pics ganked from the web, sydneyarchitecture.com of all places)
So true, very hard to beat combo there. I think Detroits Cadillac Sq. has a pretty nice collection of buildings also. Too bad the Real estate Exchange Bldg. burnt, and the original Pontchartrain Hotel was razed.

I also think the Tribune Tower is the most beautiful in Chicago.

I'm not sure if this is actually my favourite, but I do think it is quite a nice building. The Royal York in Toronto:
