This one looks a lot better when we aren’t only comparing it to the shoebill rendering. I like the shingled design of the facade.

In either case, it's kinda growing on me.

I hope its benign, the growth I mean. Glad you caught it early, it can still be cured. My thoughts are with you.

I love this building and y’all are all being grinches. The facade has texture and this one does a tremendous job hiding parking and incorporating its balconies into the aesthetic of the design.

I think it's ugly. I hate cantilevers because they look unstable. There create unconscious tension which makes hurt the experience of admiring a skyline.

This design reminds me of a Trojan Horse...not in a good way.

Yeah that design needs some work. Maybe add some white lines? A spire is always a crowd-pleaser.

No likey. It's a 700+ ft (lightly patterned) monolith that blocks out the healing light of the sun.

I do agree that it's pretty over-scaled compared to the rest of the skyline, stretching the full width of the block plus cantilevering over. But I do love the facade detailing and height.

This one is still on the table since the convention center expansion won't expand West, correct? I haven't chimed in here yet but I am a fan of the location, color, texture, and height of the rendering. However, I agree that it could benefit from some significant design changes. I think that even adding something at the top like a crown or super unique/interesting light fixture could really make this more exciting. With that said, I'd be interested to see another developer's fresh ideas on what a tower in this location could look like (hopefully at least around that height or taller).

I don't know anything specific, but have to guess that everything that wasn't the CC expansion is back on in some capacity. Personally I'm really interested in what happens with the Railyards. Those parcels only get more and more juicy as time goes on.

And for the price Karlin spent on them, they'll want to realize a return on that investment quickly (in some way, shape, fashion, or form).

These developments are the reason the expansion died. That means they’re serious about them.

My understanding about the CC expansion is that it may have to do with cash on hand with the city related to the (relative) lack of funds generated by the hotel sector over the last 12 months due to covid. Not to say that the developers are not serious about these lots, but the CC expansion being delayed and potentially not moving Westwards may not mean this specific proposals are gonna happen.

After more than a year of nothing happening with the site plan application, it has recently gone back into review. So something is happening, but there is no new info available about the project.

I get the sense that multiple developers are chasing the prospect of another potential large office lease. Is FB still looking to lock down 1,000,000 sf? Tik Tok? Tesla? Somebody else?
