Society Atlanta - 6th and Peachtree

Has anyone been by this lot (the old Eviva lot) in the past few days? Is any work being done there? Last time I was there was about three weeks ago and a fence was up and they seemed to be doing some soil samples but not sure if this has gotten any further?

They finished clearing out the trees onsite last week.

Work has been pretty steady. Today they delivered some heavy equipment to the site and assembled a large crawler crane.

I think the tower looks great. But do we really need anymore sterile plazas on Peachtree? Let's just hope they finally finish the thing this time.

Society Atlanta

I'm really excited for this to get underway. Replacing that awful parking lot with a decent tower will do wonders for changing the feel of that area.

There was an update published May 8 on the Urbanize Atlanta webpage regarding this as well. The article shows a new design with eight floors of commercial space and an additional six floors for a total of 27 stories.

The city filed an "abandoned project" complaint back in September. As many commenters have responded to the article, I suspect that this new proposal is a ploy to reset the "abandoned project" clock. We shall see. Link below.

That is quite a transformation along with the added hight from what we have today. Seems like a BIG stretch from the simple remodel that was started. Anyone giving odds on this coming to fruition?

I don't think that is the case because he already has both a 10-year tax abatement from Fulton County, and a $186 million construction loan - basically $200 million for the project. At the time that actually seemed excessive for the scale of the project but with the new renderings it now makes sense. The rumored reason for the stall was that he had some sort of disagreement with the previous general contractor.

Considering how it's gone so far, odds must be near zero, but the first plans years ago added several new floors. I think every iteration since has had at least a couple. It isn't a new idea.

Yea every time I run by (and taking that pic today) I almost want to puke. Probably the most prime intersection in Midtown and you have that as an anchor. Just embarrassing.

They've started installing the western facade glass at 1382.

That same ad is up all over New York on the boarded walls under the scaffolding. I guess Atl is starting to make it into the big leagues...lol
