I like the wood detail they have added around the balconies.

This one looks good to me.

It is good to see your weekly updates on tumblr. How do you get around Halifax (walk, transit, bike)?

You forgot driving.

Basically if it's north of Citadel Hill and south of Duffus I walk the area once a week. Anywhere else on the Peninsula I bike, and beyond that I drive to suburban projects when I visit family or am volunteering. I have a bus pass as well so all forms are covered.

Just an fyi I don't get photos of Dartmouth if anyone can pick up that slack, and I leave Downtown Halifax to Ziobrowski.

I am glad to hear that you don't have an aversion to driving a car. I am amazed at how many of the younger generation seldom drive cars.

Watch out for the cyclists - Halifax doesn't need another anti-cyclist in a big SUV (considering your desire for active transportation I doubt that will be the case though )

Interesting to check these out at their website harriseast.ca - most of the upper level units are sold with a few exceptions; most of the ground floor units remain unsold. The majority of the units are small, in some cases very small. Many are studios, which do not have dividing walls between the living and sleeping areas. Some of the sold units, which have a distinct bedroom, look pleasant enough. The building has an interesting common space on the roof.

The condos start at $199K which seems reasonable. It seems that building units that are reasonably-priced sell quickly.

I see that it is mostly wood construction; if I were to buy a condo apartment I would want concrete construction, not only would it last longer, there is less chance of rodents.

I was surprised to see that it is mostly wood construction. I would not want that. Higher fire risk, creaking and rot with time in addition to those things you mentioned. It is odd as the finished building appears like a concrete structure due to the cladding.

I think the smallest units - some of which are under 600 sq ft - are going to be a tough sell even at prices under $200K.

Looks pretty good to me too... has an odd porthole window near the main lobby though. I'm not a fan of that particular piece. The wood finish looks nice and warms up the dark charcoal panels and corrugated metal. I just hope the corrugated metal ages well.
