BANC has purchased some property from the future Wyse Road Sobeys. They have a well-written plan for this site which will house two multi-unit residential buildings (18m/6fl & 12m/4fl) on an extension of Richmond Street. Construction is slated for 2015.

Agreed. This area needs more density with the investments the city made in the new Bridge Terminal as well as the proximity to Burnside

They vote for her and they may remember her position on the Prince Albert Road building - she stopped it dead at the earliest opportunity. When it went to UARB the HRM planner was eviscerated by Maurice Lloyd, a former director of planning with the City of Dartmouth; and the board was also less than kind in its opinion of the planner. The relevant documents are on the UARB website. A very good read and just one of several cases where planning staff were shredded by other professionals, see the Dexel opposition to the CanEuro 3rd tower.
Unfortunately none of this material ever appears in the press.
My guess is that this proposal will be approved with one 'Nay'.

WSP on behalf of Banc Properties has applied for some amendments for it's Richmond Street property. These mainly involve the construction commencement date and landscaping plan.

Since that date of approval from HEMD, BANC has gone through further design
process. The detailed design plan for construction of this building now calls for wood
structure for the four storey building. This will be simpler construction method and is
more in keeping with the neighbourhood character. However, wood structure would
not be able support a rooftop patio as it was originally proposed on top of the
building. As such, we are requesting t hat t he plans in t he DA schedule showing a
rooftop patio to be replaced and the DA allow for the amenity space to include the
green spaces on the ground level.

Furthermore, construction of the site has not yet commenced due to the market
conditions over the past two years. Evidently, there has been much construction of
similar products around the area of the site and BANC decided to delay construction
until such time that there is demand for more housing in the neighbourhood. BANC
has decided to go ahead with the construction at this point and the detailed design of
Richmond Street extension is submitted to HRM for review and approval. As such, we are requesting an extension to the commencement date of the DA t o allow for construction to begin in the next construction season.
