This is a good example of a part of town that's seen a mix of larger infill projects plus smaller improvements that add up to a big change over the past 5-10 years. If you look in this area in Google Streetview it has gone from being dominated by box-style houses clad in vinyl to a healthier mix of newly renovated buildings, more 3 storeys, plus this building will be a kind of focal point where there used to be a strip mall.

Even the strip mall sort of "gentrified". It was a discount car rental, then Timber Lounge, and now a mixed use building is coming.

BTW I noticed some photos on your Tumblr are higher resolution and some are quite small. Did you know this is happening? I appreciate all of them, but it's easier to make things out in the bigger ones.

It's a phone vs laptop issue. Tumblr isn't the best system especially if I have to transfer photos to my laptop to post. They come out higher quality that way but it's much easier to just hit 'post to tumblr' on my phone for most photos. I try to make sure any "construction is complete" type photos are high quality but for photos like the one above which is a quick night shot I'll just do it from my phone.

It doesn't help I'm too poor to replace my ancient laptop and the blog doesn't make any money. I love this forum but I can't justify spending money to make posting higher quality photos easier.

This forum has definitely been the longest lasting hobby I've ever had. 12 years and 8'000+ posts. I tend to avoid debates and conversations so I think a good half of those posts are construction update photos and non-photo project updates.

On this thread's topic though the crane is now erected. It's a white crane but I haven't been by in the daytime to see which company owns it.

That sounds like it might be a settings issue.

I think it’s Able Formwork. I think it’s the same crane from the Ben’s Berkely, but with a fresh coat of white paint.

There is a rendering on site. The signage this is being built by Boston Developments Ltd. I can't find an online presence and have no idea if they have done local projects before.

Those were my thoughts, normally they use place holder names for the commercial signage. Those would be 2 big names for this store and do well for Agricola st.

I think this is the same crane which has been used previously at the Berkeley Ben’s site, except with a fresh coat of paint. The same base was used there. What is different in this case from what I saw with earlier photos here is it appears that first yellow section is cast into the concrete base, not bolted to anchors. So to remove that first section, it would have to be torched off.

I walked past this the other day and was surprised at how large this feels on the street. It'll significantly change the feel on this part of Agricola.
