^ Do we know if the vertical “louvers” at the top are going to be fixed in that sort of twisted orientation, or will they adjust to adapt to the wind?

They are fixed. There were design studies about them released a couple years ago or so.

One more look at that crown, as we get closer to lighting the Eye of Sauron...

The ONLY thing that slightly irks me about 111 is how the crown glass/cladding is a different tint than the rest of it. You notice it mainly on the east/west sides of it, but it's still my fav of the newest towers! Once it's fully lit up at night, no one will likely even notice!

^ It might have to do with the fact that the occupied floors' glazing is transparent, but the mechanical/crown floor glazing is not. Or maybe there's a film on it. Hoping for the latter!

With a cantilevered helipad and a big A logo, it could be a stand-in for Avengers tower.

1 Vanderbilt is like that too, which bothered me a bit until I convinced myself that the crown doesn't have to perfectly match the color of the rest of the building. In fact most crowns don't.

With respect NYguy, Steinway's art deco inspired crown lighting will not look the the evil "Eye of Sauron". It will be beautiful.

It will be beautiful, a beautiful Eye of Sauron, as it looms over Central Park.

So we may be in for an even better lighting.

Maybe with the height, they can paraglide right into the Central Park pool for a swim.

I can't be the only one who has thought this, but wouldn't it have been amazing to have the Steinway Tower mirrored? While still stunning, it feels more complete this way. Can anyone make some better high res mash-ups?

I think it stands out more the other way. I wouldn't mind a tower like that, but a little too symetrical. Wouldn't shock me if we saw something like that one day though. Imagine the lighting.
