Dale, It is great news for the most part! It looks as though all 3 Met projects will be built as well as Infinity II, and Capital I & II. I think Villa Magna is doing well, being the last prime Brickell bayfront property and should start construction soon as well, but of the 4 projects approved over 500 feet tall north of the Quantum development (Element/formerly Ice2, Onyx2, Platinum on the Bay, and Soleil) not a one has made it out of the ground in an area I think has great potential. If I were a developer, the Element site would have me drooling. I would love to see a 2-tower project like Villa Magna or Quantum go there. Steve

Yes, if all of Met, Infinity II, Capital Brickell and Villa Magna get built ... I'll be very happy with this boom!

YES! That would make for 7 more buildings over 500 feet tall that are not currently under construction, and I do think all of them will get built at the very least. With what is already under construction, that will give us quite an impressive skyline, and we are still only in the beginning phases of this boom. The 3rd most dynamic skyline in the country is almost assured for Miami now, but I would still like to see a 1,000+ footer somewhere in the city if we can't get Empire World past the FAA and MIA! I think enough people with money and power want to make it happen! I have left a message with the answering service for Element asking when actual construction will begin! Apparently, Element is not dead! At least not yet! I will let you know when and what I hear from them, so stay tuned to the site. We need projects like Element to balance out the skyline on the north end. It's getting a bit too Brickell-heavy! I'm not being shy about this building boom anymore. I'm getting to the bottom of it. I'm not as tall as Shaq, and I can't play basketball, but I walk into sales offices like I've got $100,000,000 and ask them when are you going to build this thing. Steve

I heard from a representative of Element today. Element is dead as is apparently every development project north of Quantum that never started construction. The rising cost of materials due to increased demand killed a lot of projects that didn't get their act together soon enough. We won't see a lot of projects get out of the ground for that reason. I was also told that Capital II has hardly sold at all. It's all kind of sad news for the boom.

That's because the condo boom has officially busted and we have to wait 2 more years to turn it around.

Not if they switch up Capital II from residential to office... not like it hasn't been done before (Met 2) and the office space would be nice.

Remember that misery loves company. A representative of a failed venture is going to want to assume everyone else is failing too. It's just human nature.

Thanks for the reminder! Maybe we'll see many of the buildings we want to see after all. I think this relatively quiet hurricane season having proved predictors wrong might make a difference to some previously reluctant prospective buyers.

Im working on it, its just a long process. I have to transfer them to pc. Then reduce the size of each pic. Then transfer to image shack so I can finally get them to our forums.

Thanks umiami! Best...update...ever!

Btw, Dale, I think the streetscaping of everything south of the AAA has been done for a while. They are adding sidewalks for everything north of the arena and adding a landscaped median. Here's a pic of what it should look like when it is done:
